Good Morning

Good Morning! Yes, sometimes it is a good morning. I’m on the decking with my first coffee of the day.. The sky is clear apart from a few puffy clouds drifting across the sky. There is a slight breeze, not cold, just fresh enough to waken the senses. The large sycamore tree at the end of the garden is taking on a green optimistic hue, a sign of the leaves that are preparing to erupt; in the background a neighbours magnolia tree has broken into bloom. The tall hawthorn hedge, although still in its winter’s nakedness, is alive with bird life; sparrows are flitting in and out to the bird feeder, a blue tit is inspecting the bird box to check its suitability as a family home I suppose. A pair of black birds are dancing around the lawn, teasing each other, most probably as a prelude to mating. My daily visitor, a lone robin, is sitting on top of the bird table. I’m sure he’s just staring at me. The hedgehog trails I’ve been trying to create look like they have been used overnight. All around are invisible birds; pigeon’s cooing, fresh water gulls squawking and from all detections a pleather of bird song. With all the rubbish that is going on in the world today it’s just nice to appreciate a beautiful moment occasionally. Good Morning!

  1. It’s really nice to be able to appreciate such things, and I say this from the viewpoint of a proper townie who knew nothing else other than terraced houses, corner shops and bustling busy high streets for almost half of my life. Now, I really enjoy sunny mornings with that first coffee (or three) sitting outside listening to nothing much other than birds flying from tree to tree.
