Generations of Slang
This is not a blog, oh heaven’s no! Me, sassy BLOG! What a joke and embarrassment that would come to be….lol.
I consider this more of a challenge or exercise, you might say, to anyone who would like to participate in a journey back in time to our younger days when we’d, be at school or simply ‘hanging out’ with our friends and used COMMENTS like: Can you dig it?, Peace out!, I’m gunna split, before someone wigs-out.
Translation? None needed, we all know what was said… or do we? Some lingo may not have made the journey across the Atlantic or the Pacific… nevertheless, with each generation there is slang! Care to share a few laughs? I apologize in advance if someone has already presented this challenge, even so, there may be some memorable chuckles with a revisit!
To those who didn’t get the just of the slang words used above…. dig = understand … peace out = gotta go …. split = leave … wigs-out = loses control or goes ballistic
I’m anxious to see a comment or two in the format outlined below.
Catch my drift? Please, don’t hang it up and be a drag, lay it on me. Y’all, get lip flappin’ and let’s have a blast! In plain and simple words…… Let’s get groovin’ and let it all hang out!
Remember, adherence to SC rules a must!

Totally righteous blog 🙂
Thanks bloom for your participation in this ‘non-blog’, and the welcome into the non-blog world…lol I was hoping this exercise would sweep away cob-webs and stimulate a bit of creativeness throughout the SC world. Sprinkle a bit of slang within the comments. You “made the scene” with “square” is slang… congratulations…lol
Thanks Pru…thought this would be a “gas”… I’m thinkin’ “jive” talkin’ is a lost art…lol
Sassy – you are so “wicked pissah!”
Sassy – you are so “wicked pissah!” (That’s a compliment in Bostonese).
Welcome to blog righting, sassy and it is a fine blog. I am a square, been square forever, no slang comes to me at the moment but when it does, I will be back.
I’m not too sure about the slang involved, but the Statler Brothers have a song called, Do You Remember These?………that song by those talented men will bring back a lot of memories……..at least in the US……..not sure about UK. Still a fun song though. Thanks, Sassy………….that’s a “cool” idea…………….heh.
Thanks Scotty… I will lend an ear to that. Is it “funky” or “hot wax”?… Perhaps it is suitable for “backseat bingo”…thanks for the “shout out”

I can remember such slang as fab, grotty, gear, hip and cool from the 60s era. Some words were perpetrated by the Beatles and found their way into world vocabulary.
These words can still be heard, albeit by the generation of “peace and luv”.
In England, various areas of the country have their own slang associated with the dialect that is spoken.
Johnny, thank you, I am hoping that the “cats” of SC will “eyeball” this exercise and “hit me’ with “far out” slang from their corner of the world. Or… some unwanted “mileage” may begin to show on me…haahaaa

“Yo” Sassy. “What’s poppin”? Thanks for a “wicked” blog, it was “off the chain” girl. I’m pretty “stoked” about “putting my two cents in”. I was “chillaxin” in my “crib” and decided to “check out” the blogs on SC. “Totally” “tubular” of you to ask our “old school” sayings. Gave me a “flashback”. Some of the sayings are pretty “wacked”. Guess I’ll “pack my bucket” and “boogie” on down the road. Hate to “split” so soon but got to get back to the “grind” and make some “paper”. Went to the dentist and my “grill” needs some work.
