Funeral plans.

I just noticed on the home page,an advert for funeral plans….also see a lot of them on telly nowadays.
I have checked some out ,and would like to enter a note of caution here…..some of them are out and out rip-offs….be careful..read the fine print….Remember, what the large print giveth, the fine print taketh away !
Personally,I wont have a bar of them…better to set aside a special bank account and get the money earning interest at least.

  1. Hi capps, well I have never looked into them so cannot comment on what they say, i have insurance on death so I am covered, never the less I am always being bombarded with requests to increase it because the cost of funerals are going up every year, but I have savings so wont be passing any cost on to my family, lots of people are not insured or have savings so the burden falls on the family or the state……..but always worth reading the small print on any agreement…xx

  2. Thank you for the advice Cappy !! . I’m glad you wrote about this , I also saw the new feature on here under the heading ” hot topic ” funeral planning .
I dare not to click on it ,fearing that the next thing I would have someone knocking on my door with a van full of coffins for me to choose from !
My personal thoughts about it ? I have a house that it’s worth quite a bit and only two sons to inherit it .
I have provided for them all my life , I still do in one way or another … They are both well educated and working , I’m sure that between them they will be able to afford a coffin to bury me in . I have a cemetery spot where my late husband is buried .
Do I feel bad about it ? Not at all ! ,they will pocket a nice sum each when my house gets sold .

  3. Cappuccino, thank you for the warning and the funeral business is a perfect setup for fraud because teary eyed younger people just want to do this last kindness for the lost loved one.I know a mother who picked out her own coffin and paid for her own service. The two sons were immensely releived. Knowing her, she wanted a very fine coffin and it looked very expensive. I would do the opposite or just be cremated.People need to find a funeral service that they can trust or get insurance, or put some money in an account. I would suggest that you will get the kind of service that you want, if you plan it yourself and you will relieve your loved ones of that process.
