I have tried to get into the chat room tonight and am just getting a spiel about half price blah blah…and upgrading to premium membership…I was told that the chat room was free with restrictions..I understood that I could still chat and read blogs…I was really happy about that..but seems that I cannot get into chat now without paying?? Can anyone explain what is happening?

Ozzie it was for a trial period . The idea was to attract people into chat but there were no more than it was before. Im sorry you missed out…it must be some time since youve been in as it was some time ago.
Faye…I spoke to Rob personally in chat room when my membership was about to expire and he told me that my membership was now free…it also says when I try to log in that my status is free membership…I try to get into chat room and get all that stuff….
By the way Faye…I have been in chat room for 4 years…and I used to chat nearly every day

The Chat Rooms have always been a premium feature to Senior Chatters. However, I did test to see what would happen in making the chat rooms free and increasing Ad coverage throughout the site – just to gauge the impact on revenue and how old and new members interacted on the site. In short, the test didn’t work and I reverted back to how it had always been.
From the general feedback I receive, a premium membership offers great value for money, and if you enjoy the chat rooms you will need to upgrade or rely on a donation in order to access the premium features of the site.
Just to clarify, this was explained in a email to everybody that free access to the chat rooms was just a test.
Rob…you say that free access to the chat rooms was just a test….well I thought I passed that test when I spoke to you in SC a few weeks ago…you then said that the chat was free and I said to you that my membership was about to expire and did that mean that now I didnt have to pay. You informed me that I didnt have to pay and that as a free member I would only have access to chat and blogs. I said to you that I was really happy with that because all I wanted to do was chat…My status says that I am a free member however I am unable to get into the chat room. When I try , I get the spiel about paying and saving etc… Can you clarify what is going on please?
When he said a test Ozzie he meant it was a trial to see if it would attract Members who hadnt paid to upgrade to Premium Membership, into the chatroom which was sadly not getting used as much as he had hoped. Unfortunately this trial didnt work so now we are back to the original way of new people getting their 14 day trials, then opting for either Free Membership (which doesnt allow them to use the chatroom or the message centre on their profiles) or to have them pay for a Premium Membership. At some stage you paid for a Premium Membership which has now run out so you have reverted back to Free Member and have the limited access. To be able to access chat you will now need to pay for an upgrade to Premium Membership.
I cant even be bothered to reply to that just to say that its a real shame what has happened to the chat room.
