EVERYTHING THAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PLACE

So,there I was, doing nothing and fleetingly watching the “Pride of Britain” awards on the tele. Note the name of the programme.. An award is given to a 25 year old single mother of 2. She gets to a point in her life where she is depressed and out of the blue, a large quantity of imported drugs are found in her luggage.Of course, she doesn’t know the drugs are there, and protests her innocence. Strangely for an innocent person, she pleads guilty at Court and is sentenced to a term of imprisonment. She is then given mentoring, money, advice and God knows what else from The Princes Trust, to start her own florist business and for “turning her life around”. Now she is given an award. What in the world is going on here ?????.Has everybody gone mad or is it just me.??????? Here is a woman, happy to earn a quick buck by playing her part in destroying the lives of others, who gets caught, protests her innocence but pleads guilty at court – work that out – and given copious amounts of money and a business for “turning her life around and mentoring others. Then the joke of manhood himself, Prince Charles sits there saying how wonderful she is.!! Have I missed something here???????. What kind of message is this sending out????? How about an award for decent law abiding teenagers who work or seek work, keep away from drugs and crime and conduct themselves in a civil and respectful manner???????. Fast forward the programme and watch an award being given to a father who lost his son in the recent race riots.By making a public plea for peace, it is in no doubt that he single handedly helped to stem the ongoing disorder.Consumed with grief, he humbly accepted it on behalf of other families who too suffered, when their loved ones were recently murdered for standing up to scum on the streets. How in the name of the Lord can these two be compared let alone given an equal status reward???? I turned over quickly after that because either I or the tele were ready to blow a fuse, but I have been told that there were other awards given to gallant acts of bravery which were richly deserved. I would have been insulted if I had been offered an award on the same level as this woman.Come to think of it, she still ought to be serving her time behind bars, not swanning around with bouquets of lilies.

  1. Hi illgner,I watched the awards, all of it,and i don’t think the girl had done anything to deserve an award, I do wish other people would turn there lives around like her though, yes she was helped to set up her own florist shop, but there are grants and things for other people if they really want a new start, and it would be a lot cheeper than them living on the state.I can’t help but laugh and agree with you about,The joke of manhood prince charles saying about the rioters,” where miss understood” he should get back into his ivory tower and stay there with The joke of woman hood camilla, this country has gone to the dogs, ha, great britain thats a laugh, may be once, but not any more,we may as well all of us turn into criminals they get better looked after and have more rights than we have,my dad would turn over in his grave if he saw the state this country is in, and thousands more of them that fought in the 2nd world war.

  2. I agree Illgner – why do people get rewarded for having taken a wrong step in life, abused or sold drugs, then became “reformed” as against those who never took this wrong step in the first place? I think it’s outrageous and ridiculous.

What is even worse is when people commit crimes then plead innocence claiming they were “drunk” or high on “drugs.” Crikey, when are people going to assume responsibility for their actions instead of making excuses and more importantly, when are we going to put a stop to this? As long as the courts listen to these puerile excuses and make “concessions” for them, they will continue to happen.

  3. Thank you very much for your input Marjie and Jojo. I know I bang on about it all the time, but Laws, and more importantly, appropriate sentencing, are in place to protect the innocent and punish the guilty and to me, the most insulting thing a system, ie Courts, can do, is to fail to address this with wishy washy “punishment”, which is really no punishment at all. I think if anybody in prison was offered a business, money, training and the chance of a new start upon release from prison,, they would jump at it and you are quite right in saying Marjie that it may save money by her not scrounging off the State., but to give her an *award*. ??? This woman was given her own florist business and with her conviction for drug importation, I wouldn’t be too surprised if her bouquets of poppies were proving popular!

  4. Perhaps Ilgner you should stand for parliament, mind you if you were elected, the rest of the mp’s would be terrified they would actually have to do something for the ordinary person.

  5. Haha Kigali, the thought of turning up at the House of Commons each day and facing that shower of self righteous arrogant ” you cannot touch me ” politicians from all sides would probably end up with me being carted off to the nearest nick!. Politicians do not like to hear the truth and don’t stand up to represent the ordinary person, for fear of losing their position or being seen as a loose cannon. and yes you are right Marjie, the drugs are everywhere.I don’t suppose for one second this woman was sorry about importing drugs. She was only sorry she got caught.

  6. I I agree with all you said illgner another thing that gets my back up is a giving the title Sir, most do what they do and get paid for the work they do , I think that its wrong there are people who do a lot of good to help others in this life, they save lives, they give their time to helping others ,then you get people who save lives of others, and they might get a thank you for the things they have done, they don’t get a mention, and don’t get paid , for what they do , they do just it to help others and don’t get paid , unlike the entertainers and sports people they do that for a living , a person who has saved a life gets forgotten , make some one laugh you can be made a sir , win some awards in sport or an actor or singer, you can get a knight hood , save someone from a fire or even death , they get a thank you but not any get knighted ,I not good at putting my point across but I have made an effort , lol will i get to be a dame

  7. It is the same in Australia, makes me into a fire dragon lol. People get a slap on the wrist no matter what they do and get looked after by the do gooders, while normal people go about their work, deal with being broken into by druggies at home and work, both here today, and try to get on with life in the crime capitol of australia. And yes Patricia, the most undeserving people get the order of australia, one child molester I can think of, its all a farce.
