Dodgeing the bullet
Living in rural America leaves us with a certain respect for the indigenous wildlife of the area. Here in the Pocono Mountains of North Eastern Pennsylvania wildlife abounds. Hardly a day goes by that deer, raccoon, wild turkeys and of course the Black bear and myself cross paths.. Black Bear feed heavily in the Autumn months to prepare for hibernation. My bear who I call Tupac is especially fond of my garbage cans. Last Sunday the temp dropped to freezing. I opened my back door to find garbage strewn from one end of my yard to the other. Infuriated I dressed warmly and went about cleaning my yard all the while cursing Tupac’s very existence. I thought I had it bad until this morning when I tuned into the TV news only to see a poor quadriplegic living in Aspen wake up out of a dead sleep to find a bear hovering over him in his bedroom. He screamed for help scaring the bear into leaving the room. But before leaving the poor man’s house the bear stopped at the refrigerator and helped itself to the entire contents. Lesson here. Lock your door fool.
