DIY 4 Obstacle course.

In my eagerness to get started this morning, and having slept right up ’til 9 a.m, I didn’t put any thought into where I was going to put the furniture that I would need to move in order to get to the corner of the wall I wanted to paint. So in typical numpty mode, I pulled the cd stand away from the corner, and needed to put the tv on it, which meant moving the BT Vision box somewhere. I chose to put it on the dreaded computer chair, then the tv on the cd stand. When I lifted the tv, all four of the suckers underneath, decided to retain their grip on the sideboard! Never mind, the base is big enough, as long as I don’t knock the tv. (which I didn’t!) Then I had to pull the sideboard away from the wall. Easy enough, once I’d taken the great stack of LP records out! Even then I nearly pulled the top off when I lifted one end. So anyway, the result was, that I only had a minimum of space to get behind the sideboard and paint, so to get onto the steps, with the tray full of paint, and then turn round to get my right arm nearest the wall, involved some very dainty movements, (and not so dainty language!) and I think even Dame Margo Fontaine would’ve been impressed. The first coat was easy enough, but the trouble with doing the second coat, is that it’s hard to see where you’ve been, and you have to look at the wall with your face quite close to it. No surprise then, that I got a white rim around one ear, and a blob on the end of my nose. It wasn’t difficult to gt it off my nose, but I got a bit over enthusiastic with my ear, and I’m sure it was shining just as bright as Rudolph’s nose ever did. Probably my imagination, but I’m sure the lady at the chippy was struggling to keep a straight face.
Well, I’m going to have to deprive myself of tv tonight, ‘cos I’ve now decided I want the furniture arranged differently, and that is going to be a right performance, ‘cos as I look at the room now, it’s just one big obstacle course, and the aerial lead is nothing like long enough to reach the tv, where it’s finally ended up. I suppose I could put the tele on…..nah, screw it, I’ll have to survive one night without tele. Oh well, c’est la guerre. 🙂
