Disgusting

I got this as an email from a friend. It outraged me so much that I thought I’d put it in her to see the reactions.

To those who think it’s disgusting, as I do, I say good for you. For any who criticise, well whee’s you head at?

Quote.
Wayne Rooney has just negotiated a £30, 000 PER WEEK rise on top of his already grotesquely enormous contract.
Two planes landed in England the other day:

-One carried a group of grotesquely over-paid, immature, under-achieving football players, who complained they were tired and missed their families after two weeks in five-star accommodations.

The other carried the coffins of 7 fallen soldiers who had spent months away from loved ones, living in tents in a war zone;
they couldn’t complain.
These soldiers earn £15k to £30k a year, not a day.

If you believe that the England team should donate two weeks’ wages to Help the Heroes then please forward this on.

I make no apology now, nor will I ever, for posting this.

Wake up world. When sportsmen get paid more than those putting their lives on the line for you something has to so very wrong

  1. I so agree way, this is disgusting. Our worlds gone mad, footballers here who can barely get a word out, trashing hotels, scandals regularly, on top dollar while our aussie blokes risking their lives are paid a pittance and are being brought home in coffins. Seems to be the same world wide. Unbelieveable.

  2. Well said way. A good friend of mine and me have been saying for the longest time that UK footballers (and their clubs) should be ashamed of themselves for the indecent dollars being spent on one player when their countries are in deep deep dire due to their economy. It makes it even harder to swallow when you appropriately remind us (and them) of the ultimate sacrifice that others are making to keep them in the life that they simply don’t deserve because they can kick a round ball… i agree with skippy, its just unbelievable

  3. I am from the USA, but I so much agree with you! I was in an airport a year ago. A young soldier in atigues approched me.. He looked so sad, He said very politely.
mam, do you have a cell phone, so I can let my family know I am home and for them to com pick me up. I had him sit down next to me and handed him my cell phone so he could call his Mother, I knew it would take a while for her to get to the airport, and I had some tim waiting for my plane. I thanked him so very much for serving our country. To see such a sweet young man so.. “dejected” looking I engaged him in some converstaion for awhile, and did give him a hug.

I canno’t even imagine the horrors these young soldiers.. from Our countrie, the gore and horror.. FREEDOM IS NOT FREE.

    God Bless Them All

( my husband was a Marine, during Vietnam era… He was state side and Honor Roll/Color Guard.. he had to do the burial ceremonies for the families..

He was in the next wave to go to Nam when the war ended.

  4. I so much agree with you Way. our young men and women put their lives on the line for us and their country for a mere pittance to what these athletes get.It is about time that they were paid for their worth.

    FREEDOM IS NEVER FREE.

  5. ah, Way – this just makes me feel despair – at the thoughtlessness, selfishness, and shortsightedness. It’s not just USA, it’s all over – we worship the faux warriors and try hard not to recognize those worthy of our true respect. So sad. I guess the only way to redress this is to do what you are doing, and draw attention to the injustice in whatever way you can. One voice is small, one voice shared becomes many who care.

  6. Way, the world has gone mad, I’m convinced of it, the words ‘unfair’ ‘shocking’ and ‘senseless’ come to mind.
Sad thing is, I can’t see any end to this stupidity and
a return to the ‘old fashioned’ values of decency, patriotism
and justice. This account makes me irate.

  7. Just spotted this…….absolutly disgusting I would say Way…..but hey thats the world……upside down…..crazy….and it’s heartbreaking…..but…..and this won’t change that email content one bit..I think…maybe I can make a difference…maybe I can bring a degree of justice…and fairness…and care about these things…it’s same with ‘celebtities’….famous for eeer what exactly…money flows….and children die in the streets….soz soap box…xxxxxxxx M

  8. That is disgusting Way. Yes, I believe that the England team should donate two weeks’ wages to Help the Heroes and believe me i will pass this on. But you and i know they wont, and i find this more disgusting. All they do is kick a ball of wind around while our young men ( from all countries) fight and die for a pittance…i get so angry about our soldiers pay, only the other day i fell out with some one over this very subject ( no one on s/c) and i am not an angry person, but when i hear ” well they chose to be soldiers”..That did it for me!. I let fly!. Odd thing was it was a guy who said it…a first with me. Ok, i had better stop other wise my rant will be worse that a Politicians speach!!!.

  9. Shadow, your outrage is warranted. What kind of values are we passing on to the next generations when they see that this is the sort of nonsense that we prize? Makes me ashamed.

  10. We had an international cricketer in Australia many years ago who was a pilot through WW2, he was asked after an international match how he was handling the pressure, he put things into prospective in such a way that I have never forgotten. He said,”Pressure? It’s only a game of cricket, pressure is a Messerschmitt up yer arse, get that right.” Too bad today’s sports people dont realise sport is still a game thats PLAYED no matter what the level.

  11. Why stop at footballers. These disgusting bankers, politicians and of course Dave the spiv Cameron and co could even donate their grossly overpaid expenses and it would boost the coffers of the Heroes no end. They won’t of course. Greed greed greed. It is always the person in the street that makes the contribution or gives their time up.

  12. He wasn’t wrong Grizz. That is the sort of pressure I am referring to.

Perhaps if they gave the highly paid sportsmen, bankers etc. machine guns they might, just might, be worth their money, lol
