Crazy about Brittsh sitcoms

I am crazy about British sitcoms. I have been for years. My current favorite is “Last Tango in Halifax”. I have watched the few programs that I can receive in USA many, many times. The acting and the characters are so terrific. I get them on our public channel and only get a very few. I wish there was some way I could get access to more. I have also heard that Australia has very good TV programs. I haven’t heard about Canada, but here in USA, I have no programs that I like to watch. NONE, except the Brittish ones and a few documentaries on Public broadcasting.
I am most delighted with what programs I do get to see and appreciate a chance to see great writing and acting. I do love British programs.

  1. Rose, with luck you only get the best over there, because here in the UK we get a real shed-load of CRAP!

Like any country, I think, we produce good and bad stuff. Hopefully only the good escapes to be shown elsewhere, lol

    1. Waylander. I appreciate your comments and I think it makes sense, but I don’t think we have anything that compares to your best programs. Our best is still bad.

    2. Rose if you liked the ‘Last Tango in Halifax’ the watch out for ‘The Happy Valley’ also featuring Sarah Lancashire. its extremely good. It was made onle 12 miles from where I live , and my daughter lives in Halifax 22 miles away. Stunning countryside…

  2. Rose. Can you not buy that on dvd love, if you like it so much ?. We watched the full first and second series, and thought it was great. We do tend to turn out the odd bit of good stuff over here, lol.

    1. No Postman, I cannot buy it. I have done a computer search and I may be able to buy season 2 in August. I watched season 1 on netflicks. How many seasons have been made. Here we are calling 6 half hour episodes a season.

  3. Amazon, box sets Rose, very many you can purchase, you would probably like the period drama’s too………but i love some of your programmes also.” Frazier” my all time favourite..” Cheers ” to name but a couple…….had ” Beauty and the Beast ” box set bought for me at Christmas….Ron Perlman as the beast…..fell in love with him big time….no accounting for taste i know…….lo l…x

    1. That may not work, Star. Remember when VHS Videos were around? Well the USA had BETA, which could not be used on a VHS machine. Same thing with DVD’s. The US have a different setting and is not compatible if the DVD is a UK version.

  4. i,m really enjoying last tango in Halifax, what a great show Bloom, as with you , I love the British comedies as well.we get quite a few British film and series here and I enjoy each one…

  5. Rose maybe you can’t get it on DVD because i think US DVD’s are region 1 and UK DVD’s are region 2 and one won’t play on the other and vice versa…
