Connecting with others

As we grow older, our life changes, we can become bedridden, lose our partner, or simple can no longer do what we once could do easily. Funny how our brain stays younger than our bodies. We still long to do things we once did, but fear of falling or other circumstances don’t allow us to enjoy what our mind would love to do.

One fear of getting older is fear of being isolated, lonely, no longer connected as we once were. SC helps, it keeps us connected with friends. Just a simple message from a SC friend can make a person’s day.

What if you took a moment to write a short message to at least two friends each day, and then another two friends the next day. Maybe asking them to pass it on to two of their friends as well. Think of how many people would get lovely messages to make their day better?

I am starting today… and ask that you help me. You can pick any friend, but for the first go, will you send a message to Peggyebritton? She is lovely lady and does so much on SC, with sharing photos of Flowers and places. She is not able to get out as much as she once did.

Thank you for thinking about the domino effect of kindness.

Linda

  1. What a brilliant idea, Linda – thanks so much for thinking of this. If everyone took a few minutes to send a messages to other members how great would that be?

    You’ve got me thinking now…

    1. Linda lovely thoughts, I already am in e/.mail contact with Peggy , I HAVE introduced her to a fellow writer I know in the U.k. AND PLEASED TO SAY THEY HAVE VISITED EACH OTHER AND ARE NOW FRIENDS. SHE IS A LOVELY TALENTED LADY…. we still communicate however in our busy days not as much as perhaps we should.

  2. yes I will continue with your idea Linda , it does make ones day to receive an E.Mail or message from others on S.c , I am so fortunate that I have made wonderful friends on Chatters, we exchange cards and small presents at Christmas mostly for our Grandchildren … communicating with others overseas braodens our minds and makes us feel like we are still in the land of the Living …lol

  3. I have taken my own advice and have reached out to some members I know but hadn’t talked to in a while and some I do not know yet. Keep the connection going.

  4. Brilliant ides Linda! I think for myself I would disturb others cos even a short note asks for an answer. And as you say we older take more time to do the same things we did when we were young. Means the older can’ spend so much time with the computer with the young once.
Perhaps I’m wrong and if so I will be please of being corrected. Michael

    1. I understand, if you should ever feel the need to post a message, just say “Just wanted to say hello, no need to reply. Wanted you to know you were in my thoughts.”. Thank you for committing. It was a good thought to consider.

  5. I like the blog. It is funny that our minds stay younger than our bodies for some of us, but the opposite is also true and both have been true for me.
If we lose hope our mind and body both feel old.

  6. I am looking for ideas to reach out to those who need a friendly message. I have sent messages each day to those I know, but would gladly write those who are lonely. Private message me if you know of anyone who would appreciate a message ever so often.

    1. Would like to see if the admins know of those who would appreciate getting messages. They may be quieter than most, but would like to hear from others occasionally.
