Blogs and Appropriate

I suggest that before anyone writes a blog, that they read the statements above the blogging space and then click on the words in red, “terms and conditions”. After reading, you should only continue, if your blog is not hurtful to anyone, and if you feel that the blog has interest and value.
True statements about your life almost always has interest and value because it gives an opportunity to connect with others. We benefit from shared stories and wisdom. We may not always make the best decisions about what is harmful, or of value and interest, but we need to try to do what we are asked to do to the best of our ability. It is for our own good. We all build community or we destroy it with our blogging and comments. I am just another blogger and one who makes comments. I have learned as I muddled along making mistakes and am trying to learn more respect and concern for all others in this community. Did I meet my own criteria? I hope so.

  1. While I agree with you in principal, that blogs should not be written with the intent of causing hurt or distress. Any story posted, especially if it relates to the author’s life or circumstances as you seem to suggest such entries should (and I do not necessarily agree with you on that point), can cause hurt or distress by bringing up old memories and traumas in the reader.

So what do we do? Do we no longer post blogs? Only post amusing stories? No!

All any of us can do is ensure we do not set out to attack an individual. beyond that all is in the lap of the gods.

I have read many interesting, informative and fascinating bogs in here and I would hate to think that even one of those authors might be put off from making their contribution by slavish adherence to the interpretation of a rule.

      1. Waylander, I wasn’t suggesting that only interesting stories be written, but when something is written, it would be helpful if the writer would share something about himself that relates to what was written.

  2. Yes rose I have to agree with your words. A blog should have interest and value!
If you don’t mind I would like to complement your thoughts. A blog gives the answer about the writer as the initiator. By reading between the lines it’s very easy for me to find out if this blog wants to provoke or to encourage the reader.
I myself found a handful writer her with the SC whos blogs are worth being read.
    Just like yours.

  3. Von Michael, I like what you said about the blogger wanting to provoke or to encourage the reader. Maybe you read what I didn’t say but was there between the lines.

  4. I suggest that the same could, and likely should, be said of the Chat Lobby. When entering, one should give consideration to the others in the room. For instance, taking pause and watching the flow of conversation, prior to rudely interrupting with what one feels is of “interest and value”. True stories about one’s life is ‘not’ at all times of great interest to a group of people who happen to be talking about something totally unrelated. This is particularly true, when there is good, light-hearted banter being enjoyed. Next thing you know, someone with seeming total disregard jumps right into the midst of it all, oblivious to all but the telling of what they have deemed to be words of wisdom the entire room need know.
I agree. Respect for others is key…everywhere on this wonderful Site.
