a typical sunday for me

a typical sunday for me

sundays are very busy for me.  i spend the day cooking my food for the entire week.  i eat VERY specific, so i rarely eat “out”, and if i’m to stay on my eating plan, it requires this day, sunday, each week in the kitchen.  but i enjoy it…it’s cathardic.  i stay in my jammies all day and just cook, while my music plays.

i cook a weeks worth of eggs and sweet potatoes for my breakfasts, and a weeks worth of chicken thighs mushrooms and brown rice for my lunches and another weeks worth of chicken breasts that i chop up to have with spinach, tomato and avocado salads for my dinners.  everything is then containered in proper serving containers.  in the mornings, i grad a breakfast and lunch container and put them in my lunch bag for work, and in the evenings, after i work out, i just make my spinach salad.  it makes meals easy during the week, and i stay on my healthy, disciplined way of eating.

i also cook for my dog.  bagged dog food is so unhealthy, and he’s gonna be 15 this september, which is a few years past his “expected” life span, according the vet when he was a puppy, so i like the think his food helps that longer, healthier life span.  he gets brown rice, lean ground beef, ground chicken, hard boiled eggs, green beans, peas and carrots.  his food is also cooked in weekly batches.

so…it’s alot of cooking all in one day, but as i said, i like it. i’m a very structured person, who does better with rountine.  i’ve never been very good at being a “go with the flow” type person, tho i wish i had a little more of that in me, and maybe i’ll also try to adopt some of that as i move forward in this life of mine.

also on sundays, i get my laundry done for the week, and i order all my groceries.  so sunday is basically a “get ready for the new week” type of day.  i like knowing that come monday morning, when that alarm goes off at 3:45 am…everything is ready for my week.

its another beautiful day here, and now that i’ve finished all my cooking, i’m taking this break to write here a bit, and then i’m headed out to my yard to do some watering and trimming a few things.  everything is growing so beautifully, the yard has lots of color bursts in the areas i’ve got flowers, and i picked my first ripe cherry tomatoes this morning…they taste amazing!  it will be so nice to have those in my dinner salads now, instead of buying tomatoes at the store.

i’m off to do some things in my yard now.
