A Spark that started a fire part 1

I don’t often come on here these days, I have made some good friends over the years. I met a lady on here, about four years ago, I hadn’t been a member very long and had joined a group for carers and this is what happened.
How do you cope, a message said, you don’t, you take each day at a time, but if you email me we can talk much better that way. OK came the reply.
Her hubby had early forms of dementia where as my partner was partially disabled, she could hardly walk and had a wheelchair when we went out and frame when indoors, I had retired two years previously, so was a full time carer. Cars as I like to call my new found pen pal was still employed.
we emailed each other regularly talking and helping each other with advise.
I was on Gmail and so was Cars, one day I was on Gmail and I noticed a green light by her name. I clicked on it and Messenger came up, I wrote saying how are you today? A reply came back, Hello where did you come from? I dunno I replied I saw this light by your name and wondered what it was, she replied she was at work, oops I said, I didn’t realise, she said it was OK no probs.
Hence we discovered a way to chat. Cars lived in the US and I lived in the UK, at first we chatted once or twice a week.
Cars was due to retire on her 62nd birthday, and was so looking forward to it,
She messaged me saying that her retirement had been put back 3 months and she was so upset. I could feel her tears in her writing, I consoled her saying 3 months wont take long.
A week later I received another message saying she was finding it hard, work was stress full and hubby was getting worse, Cars likened it to pushing a snowball up hill the snowball getting larger and larger, I advised her to top of the hill was not too far now, then its down hill all the way.
Her retirement came, she asked me what advise could I share with her,I told her the important thing was ME time, she must make time for herself.
A few days later she emailed me saying I miss you, I said lets go on messenger, we started chatting on messenger twice a day after that, learning more about each other, we had similar interests in hobbies, gardening and music.
One day she mentioned about changing the air filter in her car, I explained it the best way then told her to look on You Tube thus I introduced her to the world of You Tube we started sending songs to each other.
Our friendship was getting closer now and warmer.
She told me she liked to travel. I asked her what would she like to see more than anything in the world, she said The Panama Canal, she had read a book on the building of the Canal, and always wanted to see it, I explained I had sailed through it twice whilst a lad in the Merchant Navy and it was worth seeing, also she wanted to see the Northern Lights, I mentioned Iceland was the best place to see them The next morning I received an email with details of a cruise she had booked for herself and hubby leaving Fort Lauderdale cruising to San Diego via the Panama Canal. leaving in November. Then I got an email giving me details of a weeks holiday in Iceland at a reduced price, Cars can find a bargain when travelling.
The great day came, I followed her flight by Sky radar and saw her sail from Port Everglades on the Harbour Webcam, The ship was so close to me I felt I could touch it.

  1. Thank you for sharing your story and I found it very interesting. You must be a very romantic type man and I am happy that you and cars had each other to help you along your way. I do hope their is more to follow, but I sense that there is a tragic end. I am not sure why.
