I look outside of my window
I look outside of my window
See a breeze caressing my trees
I feel a profound desire.
For someone to caress me.
I look outside of my window
I see birds enjoying the mist
They are free and content in pairs
Hauntingly singing a sweet melody
I wish I was like a bird
If only I could, step outside of me.
I look outside of my window
When dusk slowly turns into dark
I hear a cacophony of birds
Getting ready to roost for the night.
I close the curtains on my window
My room a dark canopy
I sink my head on my pillow
Dreaming eyes lost in fantasy
I send my soul on a journey
To find a soulmate for me.

I can relate to your ode to longing. I have felt this way and still do, at times. The universal dance of belonging can feel bittersweet. A day came for me when I realized I am the one I have been waiting for all of my life. The rest is just icing on the cake! These are beautiful words, nmod, thank you for sharing!
Thank you Prudence, I appreciate your comment and you’re right sometimes we do a lot to avoid being alone with ourselves. I am comfortable with my own company, but sometimes my mind wanders, I am a dreamer,
Nmod, What a lovely picture and I also see a cat sitting out there by the tree. Thanks for sharing the photo.
Thank you Marie.
