NEW BEGINNINGS
Even though Christmas is over
We’re still of good cheer
Getting ready to welcome
Another New Year
We’ll visit with friends both near and far
The wives will enjoy chatter
As the men quaff a jar
Parties and fun go on into the night
Until midnight looms
And the countdown’s in sight
As the clock strikes twelve we join hands and sing
‘Old Lang Sign’ raises the roof
And the New Year’s ushered in
We look forward with hope to whatever it brings
Peace and goodwill would be wonderful things.

They would indeed, but as there hasn’t been a single day of worldwide peace since at least 1936, I consider them unlikely.
Happy new year
Happy new year to you too. Let’s hope it’s a great one for all of us
Happy New Year to you, I do not see any signs of peace as yet more is the pity.
Great poem marking the passing of the old and the birth of a new year. Thank you.
