‘Nowt so queer as folk!’

When we are young, we proudly announce our age. 

” I’m three and three quarters in a month.” We continue like this until we reach the end of our teens and then there is a shift in our thinking. Men tend to say they are a little older to impress a prospective employer, or a rather sophisticated woman;  whereas she will downplay her age from twenty onwards 

A thirty year old is a perrenial 29 a fourty year old a constant 39 years of age..etc.etc.etc.

THEN ! After 6O, Something strange happens….We suddenly revert to childhood,(notwithstanding incontinance and loss of memory or independance) the whole scenario is then reversed.

“How old do you think I am?” Folks guess lower of course out of politesse, and then we proudly announce that we are “nearly seventy” Once we have made it to seventy, we take a great delight in telling folks we are almost an octogenarian.

Like i said, ‘nowt so queer as folk.’
