Who Inspires You?

(I have published this before in a group but wanted it here in my profile)

I know I am one of the luckiest members on this site. Not just because I still have my Mum; but also because of the remarkable lady she is. In my 67 years she has never once said ‘I told you so’ Not even a giveaway eye roll. Believe me she has had many opportunities. She really thinks Im something special. Not perfect she doesn’t believe in perfect. I think the strongest words she answered, to one of my ‘not enough time rants’ one day was; You must remember you have the same 24 hours as everyone else. I often repeat it to myself but also hand it to others.

She is a simple lady. Born in the cobbled back streets of Manchester UK. Left school at 14, straight to work in a factory. A natural talent for writing and singing. What a beautiful voice. Adventurous for her day. Travelled over 100 miles to marry her pen friend, way out in the countryside.

Not an easy life. Twice widowed and a cancer survivor. Supported me through many things; including bankruptcy. Irritatingly positive. Her whistling through the floorboards to Winnie the pooh, when we were tearing our hair out upstairs. But she kept my girls grounded and happy whilst we sank and swam once more. They baked cakes and diamond mined in the gravel outside. Bring back the extended family. Her great grandsons 6 & 7 live and ski in the French Alps they have stickers on their kit. ‘Sponsored by Grandy’

We have always been close but twice now Ive sailed off and put too many miles between us. This last time leaving her home alone at 93. She lives totally independently and is gardening mad in all weathers. We spend at least 2 weeks every 3 months together. She came out to Montenegro last October and spent a month with us. She climbs on and off the boat better than half my mates. This photo was taken then.
