There’s a Storm Coming

This last two weeks has finally convinced me that the world has arrived in hell, in the proverbial handcart.

That’s the 1st world, by the way. 3rd world people are still struggling every day of their lives just to exist. Bending a knee for anything other than obtaining food and water is totally alien to them, I imagine.

No one seems to be allowed an opinion anymore. And an awful lot of people appear to think that just because they say something, that something is a fact. Woe betide anyone who dares to attempt a discussion around their statement of ‘fact’.

I read a ‘meme’ on Facebook last week. It stated that if all social media was switched off for 30 days, 90% of the troubles in the world would cease to exist. I assume the meme writer meant that the 10% remaining would be real troubles; like people in underdeveloped countries struggling to feed themselves and the many people all over the world actually dying because of religious persecution.

I have my ideas about how things might possibly be brought under control, in the UK at least, but unfortunately the pragmatic, sensible people in my country are outnumbered 2:1.

As things stand, I can only see one outcome…

  1. I agree that things have gone to hell and a handbasket for the most part. I think that this comes mainly while people have become more focused on gaining more than the next one regardless of the consequences to others. Secondly, social media usage has a darkness as well as light side to it. Remember that it is people doing these things themselves no the tech.
Had we done a better job teaching our youth by example, I believe that we would not be in such a serious situation.
    Thank you for your share…

  2. Bev, I love reading blogs. I see you have found the gloom and doom of the headliner news channels that seek out and promote the ‘attention-seeking stories’ to attract viewers. I don’t totally believe technology is our enemy nor is the senseless meme. I have discovered in the last few years that watching and giving homage to the stories promoted by prime time news, television, and yes social media gives off negative vibes, but the audience helps to promote this behavior. If no audience, no advertisements, no money, no negative, but happy or needy does not promote the media’s cause. You notice they don’t make their cover stories about the 3rd world nations that you speak of because the deficit created by much more than a lack of food. Perhaps greed in higher places? Or could it be a severe lack of education in their pursuit to survive, and computers and technology offers a lot in that area of education. But if you teach a man to fish, then why would the man want to buy from the rich merchants. Thanks for your blog very interesting.
