The Wisdom of a Child

I like to share an experience that enlightened me this week. I frequently preform volunteer charity. It’s an act to flourish that cannot be obtained by wages. Kind-heartedness, compassion that develops my internal wealth. I have a job and I need money as we all do. But this fills a void. Truth be known it makes me happy. I guess I’m selfish I help heal others for the joy that I receive.
Enough of that back to my story I was visiting an assisted living facility for elders. I came across an 8 year old girl who was visiting grandparents. We started a conversation and she looks straight at me and stated. I know how to tell what kind of tears I have? Can you tell me your secret? This is what she whispered. Tears of sadness make me feel heavy and tears of laughter make me feel light! Heartfelt wisdom from a child. Can I share your secret? With a smile she replied you can use it

  1. It’s a great thing that you are doing, giving back. I think it’s a wise and biblical principle, in giving you end up receiving much more than you give. Well put about the tears… such understanding from one so young. And also interesting that w/o one you can’t appreciate the other – like pain and pleasure, light and darkness, hunger and satiation.. we need one to understand the other. Good blog..
