Afraid to Love.

I’ve spent many years
building up a wall around me
A fortress to protect me
from a phantom enemy…
Now…you are pulling it down
The wall that I so very slowly had built
You are pulling it down
Just…one brick by one brick.
With it almost…but gone.
I feel frightfully exposed.
Love’s been waiting outside
I’ve nowhere to hide anymore.
I’m scared…you see…
I have loved and lost.
Been bruised and been sore
My heart…could possibly take it no more.
It’s been patched up so many times
I’m scared to hurt it once more.
Now…You are setting me free
Outstretching your arms…Inviting me in.
My heart in your heart…My skin on your skin
Our lips…warmly locked…in a never ending bliss.
Love hurts…someone once said.
Love hurts…That’s so very true.
Too late for me now…I’m taking the hurt…
and share it with you.

  3. AS some sage of long ago said,” Is it not better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all? In the words of the famous French song, Plaisir d,amour The joys of love are but a moment long, the pain of love lasts a lifetime, but it softens with the passing of time. Hold on, it is never too late to experience an epiphany in matters of the heart. Sincerely, A.M.
