New to Chatters
Hi everyone, I am new to this chat site and haven’t a clue what I am doing at the moment. I have joined the group to talk to people of my own age or thereabouts. I am married and have two grown up children who are now both married and have families of their own. During the week I look after my four year old grandson. Never ever thought I would be crawling around the floor at my age lol. I enjoy what spare time I get knitting, crocheting, reading, Country and Western Music, chatting on the computer.

Hi Shadow, I just came back to Senior Chatters yesterday after being off it for about two years. So much new technology, I got lost. I took the lessons on the home page slowly and learned a lot. It’s taking time but I’m just happier knowing all these people are here. My children have also grown and flown mostly, they have busy lives as we had….and now we’re here…reaching out to each other. It’s a big risk for some of us to reach out this way but we’re doing it. I also knit and crochet and I watch a lot of tv on Acorn and shows on Netflix. I live in Chicago and now my old neighborhood is full of people all rushing around, no time for chatting as it used to be. You’ll do well, just don’t give up on Senior Chatters. Rose
Hello rose, glad to see you back and you did a great comment. There s an excellent senior center near you and you may want to check it out. My friend went there often after she retired.
Hi Rose, thanks for your post to me. I’ve checked all the Senior centers in my area, the closest being at Montrose and Damen. Not very close. Don’t drive. Hate taking two buses these days plus a bit of a walk with that. Do you live in my area? Or does your friend? You’re very kind to suggest that to me. Thank you. Rose
I used to live fairly close to you. My friend lives at Irving park and the lake.
When the weather is warm, it will be easier and after a while you may make friends who drive.
I was just exploring senior centers here. One near me is planning a trip to New York City. They do all sort of things.

You are so kind, Rose! I live in Lakeview. Here all my life. At my age my mom had many senior places to go very near. I am the second oldest person now on my block. Things have truly changed here. Truthfully I have gotten a bit of agoraphobia. I used to walk all over with my friend I had since age 12. She died and I got lost. I try, I really do.
Rose, it is easy to stay at home, it may take time but we want to stay integrated into the community. I had to push myself out.It is getting easier.
Shadow, the only harm I have seen is some people get involved and the woman thinks it is true love and the love is not true, not to say that true love is not found here. There are scammers looking to entice women or men, for less than honorable reasons. Avoid people who want to private chat right away or before they even know yo and you will be fine.
It will seem strange coming back to a site that has very little semblance to what you left a couple of years ago. If you need any help please ask someone..we do try to help each other as much as possible. And Welcome back…it is nice to see you walking the ‘halls’ of S/C again…:-)

What I love about this site is that we have members from all over the world. You will love meeting all the different people. I have been a member going on 4 years now. Still enjoy it as much as in the beginning.

Hello shadow I joined sc back in October and it was one of the best things I’ve ever done. I’ve logged on every day since for my daily fix of friendship. The folks are great and it’s just like having a group of pals in your living room. Only difference being their invisible. Life was a little lonely before I discovered sc not any more. I switch on my pc and there are my friends waiting for me to enjoy a good old natter. So welcome to our club shadow have fun and make lots of new friends.?
