  • Our 2008 European trip – A brief brush with Russia.
Although we were within a stones’ throw of Russia for most of our time in Finland we had two compelling reasons to keep our distance – 1. We did not have an entry visa and – 2. Even if we did, the comprehensive insurance on our car would lapse while ever it was on Russian soil. Undeterred,…

    • Another very interesting  account of your extensive European travels, Bob – Wise move to stay on the safe side!!.  Lovely for you to relive that time and the situations you encountered along the route and share them with us.  It is an area I, and probably most people, will never have an opportunity to explore.

I don’t have the opportunity at the moment to keep across Chatters quite as much as previously but when I do I head straight for the photo group. What a fantastic extravaganza of photos from you all, it has been a real pleasure viewing them.

      • The severe flooding in Queensland (Australia) has incurred 6 deaths so far making it a grievous situation. Our son, with impeccable timing, decided to shift house this weekend just gone and this morning sent us some photos of his new neighbourhood….

        • What a disaster –  as if moving was not already one of life’s most stressful activities!    Do hope the situation will improve soon and your son and his family can complete the move and start to settle into their  new home.

        • @Jim1945 Cousin of Eunice – Jim, I took these photos during the last week of December 1999 in the vicinity of Worthing Beach. Somewhat ironically, the signboard proclaims the beach as the seaside award winner for that year, I’m pleased they didn’t do the judging on this day!

          • Even when its not all sunshine and blue skies – it can be a bracing enjoyable experience on our UK beaches, Bob – well-captured here.  Lovely to see the rough seas pounding the shore .

            • Familiar sight in the winter along the south coast. Great pictures Bob.
