In 1974 our family (Mum, Dad and two young sons) moved to the small rural town of Dungog in New South Wales. Rugby league was the only available winter sport but both our boys had been playing soccer since the age of 5 and rugby league was a complete mystery to them both. They began taking a soccer ball to school and it was incredible how…

Ever since I purchased a computer for home back in 2003, 90% or more of my time at the PC revolves around digital imaging. One of its’ more enjoyable and rewarding aspects has been creating homemade birthday invitations as we both celebrate an ‘0’ birthday. Robyns’ 80th is just around the corner and this is her party invitation…

Winding up a tumultuous week…
Hi All – First up I am back in the Photo Group and most of my posting will be via this platform. After a very dismal beginning our week just gone became substantially brighter with our 61st Wedding Anniversary on Friday. We lunched at our favourite little cafe/restaurant and both enjoyed Scotch Fillet, by no means…

What a Topsy Turvy Week!
Usually our weeks are relatively mundane but this week is going to be a little different. Today we attended the funeral of a long standing friend who, after a prolonged period of increasing dementia, passed away recently. As well as being great mates, we shared precisely the same birth date. We were both born on the…

If your old pal is well aware of what is happening to him, when you leave him tomorrow how about “Safe journey my dear old friend safe journey”. Just a thought.
Very many congratulations on your 61 years together.

Today, 3rd September, is the 86th anniversary of the declaration of war with Germany. British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain made the announcement to the British people by radio from the Parliamentary Cabinet Room in London. An audio and written transcript is available on the internet should anyone be interested. In Australia it was…

Spring has Sprung
Today is the first day of Spring down under and our roses are beginning to awaken from their winter slumber. As always, the first one to bloom is the beautiful ‘Princess de Monaco’ although the one in the background ‘CWA90′ (Australian Country Womens’ Association 90th anniversary rose) is hot on its’ heels and only a couple of days away.

@marie41-2 Hi Marie, just wanted to say that we are as hopeful for you as we were for ourselves regarding becoming Great Grandparents. Like you, we had virtually abandoned all hope of ever being so and can only suggest that the “Never say Never” approach will keep the flame alight and – who knows? All the very best – Robyn & Bob Deb.

Bob thank you and yes I do hope that I will live long enough to see a great grandchild from Ryan or from Joe . I will be 84 in August . I am sure you and Robyn will enjoy your new great granddaughter and loved seeing the photo of her that your posted on here. All the best to you both. 🌞

@marie41-2 @goldengirl1224 @grandmaj Hope I’ve got the @syntax right, will see what happens! Many thanks for your responses to my post last January regarding the gender or our recently arrived bundle of joy. I was in the hospital at that time and must have missed your posts. I just had a visit from my cousin and his wife’s health is also deteriorating quickly. My cousin hasn’t told her yet but he is planning to sell all his chickens. I wish the plans of a chicken pen was happening now because I would love to have his chickens. My cousin plans…

Never, ever say “Never”…
As we moved from our 70’s into our 80’s my wife and I saw our dream of ever becoming great grandparents fading away. However, at a family gathering for our 60th wedding anniversary last October, we received the fantastic news that a great grandchild was on its way. What made it more meaningful to us was the fact that…

Many thanks Maizie. Up until a few years ago I used to be a regular participant in Chatters but I don’t get the opportunity now unless it is something really special. Which reminds me – I need to respond to some members who responded to a previous post I made when we found out the gender of our great grandchild by a video clip emailed to us.…
