Learning to live ,life goes!
And how true that is !
I’ve had always a good life …of course I had my share of the bad as well, as we all do , but I have had a lot of good ,joyful things happening to me .
However I never thought that in my sixties I was going to experience some of the most memorable times of my life !
I’ve only started celebrating my birthday in 2010 when I turned 60 , I never did it before , for not reason at all , I just didn’t .
Last year I celebrated my birthday in Morocco sipping mint tea in a cave in Fez with Aisha an amazing 85 year old woman who lives there since she was 8 years old , it was such an extraordinary experience I will remember it for the rest of my life , and at night at the hotel I was presented with a cake and the staff sang the happy birthday to me in Arabic! Now ,how’s that for a special birthday?
It was there and then that I promised myself to celebrate my birthday in a special place ,every year until my 70Th . Of course, If I live that long that is ! (I hope I do ) 🙂 .
This year I was really short of money , but I was determined to fulfill my own promise.
So , that’s how I decided to go to Tasmania for my birthday …Tassie is a small island state only 50 minutes flight from Melbourne . And the place it’s picture perfect ,gorgeous and pristine ! and I could do it on a budget .
There were bush fires burning in a some areas of the island , limiting the choices of things to do .
My sons gifted me some money to spend on my day . So with the help of the tourist information center I organized a day trip / cruise to Bruny island . (A couple of hours drive and a short cross on the ferry from Hobart )
I didn’t know what to expect but I was in for a wonderful surprise!
Bruny island it’s a little paradise surrounded by a National Park !
The cruise was an exhilarating experience ,the scenery magnificent and we cruised around the national park all the way to where the Tasman sea and the Southern ocean meet , and there in the middle of the Tasman sea I was sang the happy birthday !
What a memorable experience !
I feel blessed a million times to have had this amazing opportunity !
The good thing about this is that ,now , I don’t mind getting old , I can’t wait to have my next birthday ! I’ve started to plan for it already !

Thank you for sharing this and your experience during your birthday ‘bonanzas’. I have been having similar thoughts but each time I share it with my spouce he brings it down, it is something I can do on my own, can’t I? LOL
Yes ! We own our dreams …only us can make them realized ! Go for it girl !
Just gather up a girlfriend or two and make it happen. I like a little company, but it isn’t necessary as you can enjoy doing what you want. If I win the lottery, I will glady go with you! Blessing.

What a beautiful idea and one I would like to try. It is a celebration of your life, one that only you can truly celebrate. How wonderful and thank-you for sharing. Although I live where it is very cold on my birthday – perhaps I can find a special place for my birthday this year and next head for the warmth of the sun. Again thanks for sharing that awesome experience.

here where i live it’s usually very warm on my birthday …lol
but there are places in the world where the temperature its just nice.
Morocco for example was just perfect !
you could take a camel ride and have your happy birthday sang as you watch the sun setting over the Sahara desert !( you need to be aware that the cameliers will try to sell something at a very expensive price , so you better leave most of your money in the hotel)

I travel alone ,but I organize a tour on my birthday so I don’t spend the day on my own , and i have a few new friends to celebrate with ! thank you for your birthday wishes.

What a fantastic idea nmod – I doubt I will be able to afford it this year (I turn 70), but from then on I am going to do the same thing – I love it. So glad you had a lovely birthday. I lived for 2 years in Tasmania and it holds a very special place in my heart. If I was younger, I would settle there. Take care Love fy2 xoxox
