If it doesn’t feel right..don’t do it.

okldy posted an update

I realized I had posted this in the wrong place

I think there are some issues on this site. So long as we just chat and stay on this site we may have some protection. However if you leave site to connect with another that gave you a new contact email..etc.. you need to check out.. Romance scams(google) and Scammers(google). Trust me I am not easily scammed but I was….then I did my homework. When someone says I am new to site please show me and they give you another email to contact them (because they don’t want to be on this site) there may be some controls… THINK first!! Educate yourself… You cannot believe anything about the other person…they can be anywhere! they may not even be the gender you thought! and never, never, never send money. Most scammers will tell you in profile ….male..wife died…have son/daughter. later…parents killed in car acdt , no family to count on…working out of country, military, engineer, and they are very good at convincing you…You are the best thing that ever happened to them! They love you at first sight of your pic….knew that you were their soul mate they have been looking for forever. Esp after the divorce from wife if she hasn’t died yet…. FYI women are the # 1 scammers. Nuff said.. We all have choices. I have made mine. Fool me once..shame on you. Fool me twice…Shame on ME!

I also know there are good people on this site and I would like to be friends with any that would like to be friends with me…..I enjoy the postings and I hope to be here for a long time…I’m just pretty protective when it comes to family and friends by nature.

  1. okldy, never ever respond to an email like that. That is typical scammer message, any one who wants you to contact them off site is usually a scammer. Please fill in a scammer report at the top of page. Even if you are wrong it doesn’t matter, they are checked out. It is better to be safe than sorry or tell an admin or monitor in private message and we do the rest. We so value members being our eyes and ears too. We catch most, many you never see, however occasionally one slips through. Thank you for this blog will alert others. xxxx

  2. I only posted that email as an example of what to look for. Yes I was scammed but off a senior dating site by someone I chatted with for 2 months daily- since then I have joined a site to keep the scammer busy….you just play along and frustrate them when they ask for money- hopefully my time spent is less time they have with someone else they can scam. Won’t ever get my money back …. or make the embarresment go away. But I believe you have to acknowledge your mistakes before you can move on and I have.
The above email is so stupid …..if they were all that easy there would not be millions of dollars scammed from the US yearly. As far as worldwide- I do not want to even think about!
