Happiness

As I sat there by the river’s side
making paper boats and sending them
sailing down the tide.
I could sense some magic…something special
hard to explain.

Take me home …I said
to the last paper boat I’ve made
and sent it sailing on his way
I watched it go until it disappeared
down the murky water of the Yarra River.

I closed my eyes and rested my head
on the soft green clover as my bed
it felt so peaceful…my mind was taken
I looked inside me…my boat was waiting
I jumped on board and on went sailing.

I saw a dim light so deep inside
all crumpled up and into one side
it looked familiar…
I neared my boat and picked it up
holding it close with fear.

I’m “Happiness” it said.
Surrounding me up in a warm embrace
“I know ” I whispered
Afraid to frighten it away.

It’s been a while…
I finally said and ever so gently
blew off the dust from its pretty face
would you….stay?

I live in there it said ,pointing to my chest.
“within you it’s my dwelling place”.
We stayed together all of that day
and been friends ever…since.
Happiness and me.
