Closed. Gone Fishing
I would rather fish than to eat ( unless it is fish). We live on a lake l. I spend all summer long walking to the dock and fish awhile. I can’t help but smile and give a big sigh as I thread a big nightcrawler on my hook and cast the line out near the big tree limb that fell into the halfway into the water. Some have told me they don’t get the casting the line in and sit a long time waiting for a bite. Of course these are the same folks who play golf and spend the day trying to get a small ball into a small hole. lol To each his own. It is kinda like playing Bingo. You get all tense as you only need one more number to win and get so excited when that number is called.
But there is more to fishing than catching them to me. It is so relaxing to watch the wildlife. I often see deer walking across the small damn, large woodpeckers making a racket, squirrels chasing one another, ducks and geese enjoying their swim and even water snakes gliding gracefully across the water. I love listening to the breeze through the treetops that sound like a lullaby. Sometimes it is so quiet that I can hear my heart beat in my ears. It is a great place to clear my thoughts, make plans for the day, talk to God.
And if I end up with a few fish worthy to bring back, that is wonderful. If I go back empty-handed, I still feel like I am returning with something special, my peace of mind.

Great article Trish. I was there with you. I live on the water, I lose hours just watching life. Time well spent.
I find it to be a great place to just drop your fears, secrets and dreams into the water knowing that the water will keep them save 🙂
Nice thought 🤞
I totally get the peace and tranquillity of this. I don’t fish, nor do I really eat fish, but all the rest sounds just amazing. I once spent a lovely summer evening lakeside as the sun went down. There was a lovely warm breeze too which kept most of the mozzies away. It left a lasting memory.
Hi Trish,I honestly thought you were writing about me,I used to be a avid angler but now I’m getting too old and have to limit myself when it’s wise to go fishing and when it’s wiser to stay at home,it was hard at first but now I’m resigned to do the sensible thing.although my style of fishing is a million miles away from the style of fishing you adopt the passion is much the same as yours the birds the wildlife even the pond life fascinates me.To understand my style of fishing it would take me too long to explain,so if it’s not too much to ask,if you could find the time go onto you tube and type in pole fishing in the UK for beginners.
