CATS & FEEDING

Re cat food – does anyone else have the same problem as me? I know that cats are notoriously fussy eaters, and mine seems to have taken a dislike to tinned cat food and now prefers the sachets. Within the box of sachets, (fish selection only) I have tried ”Whiskers” and ”Felix” – most flavours are ok but she won’t eat the tuna ones.
I have a couple of other friends with cats and they are finding exactly the same problem – does any one else have this problem?

You may ask, what I do with the tuna sachets – well they are useful as I have to give the dog a pill ”Seatone” each day, so I hide the pill in the cat food. I am sure she spits it out sometimes, just so she can get another spoonful!!!!!

  1. Sadly, I don’t have any cats at the mo’…but I did have the same experience with mine – shortly after the pouches became available I had four cats at the time, two liked tinned and would eat whiskers and all seemed to like sachets – then two started to lick all the gravy off leaving the food, then no-one would eat the tins…so I had to stop buying them. I tackled the issue by mostly feeding dry food (better for their teeth) and only feeding sachets occasionally under supervision. They definitely had preferences for meat over fish, and no-one liked the fish in those foil pots (can’t remember what they were called now). One thing they absolutely loved (for a treat) and went wild for was prawns … I had no choice but to hand over a few prawns if I had any in the fridge or my life would have been hell! (lol)

  2. Had this problem too….for some reason our cats have become reaaly faddy. Only eat the sachet type foods if they are in gravy, and then only selected flavours….dries food is a good option as lons as plenty of water is available,,but the vet says don’t just feed them that!!!!Of course if I was to open tins of salmon, sardines or tuna I wouldn’t have a problem. Honestly…they are just soooo fussy.
