Blogs and What Interests People
You never know what blogs will prompt replies, if that is a sign that people actually read your blog. I know that many read and don’t comment. Many people are so helpful and positive in making comments, but how many actually do? Are replies the indicator of how many actually are interested in a blog. It is good to comment, because bloggers want to have some opinions on the subject, besides their own.
Today there is a sports blog which asks what is the most popular sport. So far, few replies, and I thought that would be of interest to more people than just about anything
As I said, you just never know.
I, myself, write When I think of something that I have found worth knowing and I share it with others. It may be worth knowing for any number of reasons. It may be just worth a good laugh, or good to know that you are not the only one angry as heck. It may be something that could just lighten your load a little.
Here, I hope to get people to think about writing blogs and making comments. I hope I can motivate people to participate fully in the blogging process. I have to run over and check that sports blog, I just believe that people will have made a lot of comments by now. Okay,so, I really do want to hear about what blogs grab your attention.

Well Rose I cannot comment on the sport blogs, I know diddlysquat about sport and have no interest in it whatsoever………..the blogs that seem to attract most attention and comments do seem to be the one’s about emotions, feelings, things we all know and understand…….but of course there are lots of other subjects that maybe of interest to chatters too….xx
Starlette, you seem to be right. As per usual.
I dont blog Rose, coz of this silly (In my opinion) requirement to have at least 300 words.
Surely its possible to write a decent blog in less ?
If theres a good reason for it..I,d love to know.
cappuccino, When the rules were changed, there was some discussion. I know if your title is too long, the blog will be rejected.
I have seen short blogs. The one about Pollie was very short, so people ignore that rule. I worry about being too long, because I feel people don’t want to read a long blog. Just write and don’t worry about that.
The owner must have felt that 300 words was an ideal blog length. but people don’t follow that rule.
Hello Star,
I would very much to follow your path but please tell me where do I get all those needed emotions and feelings from??? xxxM
Aww Michael, I cannot believe that you have lost all feelings and emotions, while you still have life you will always experience emotions surely, sadness , happiness,…….and there will always be days when you have a laugh in here………get a smile on that dial my man……….xxx
Michael, you made me laugh and starlette has a good answer.
I just tried it Rose,
I wrote a blog 33 words long,
It was rejected for being “Too short,300 words required.
Perhaps its a glitch in my computer…Who knows ?..Its no big deal 🙂
cappuccino. 33 words is rather short.
This subject of blogs comes up often. Blogs seem to range from a persons life experiences to fiction to opinions and of course emotions. There’s a wide range of choices people blog. I for one don’t have a preference. Blogs are usually intriguing and informative. They allow the readers to get a glimpse of the person’s life or thoughts.I can’t say I’ve ever read a bad blog. Some peak my interest while others I simply learn something new but in all I enjoy the contribution the blogger takes the time to post. Blogs are a very important part of SC in my opinion no matter the subject. To all bloggers…Thank you and please continue to be interesting.
jsmile. thank you and you, hopefully, will encourage people to blog.
Hi roseinbloom,
I’m really interested in this too because I want to make a concerted effort at blogging – I’ve had brief attempts in the past but this time thought I’d try to understand it better and give it a proper go! So, I take an interest in anything that’s posted and still on the system and ask the same questions that you’ve raised here. Must agree with starlette, it’s the everyday stuff, that everyone does and can relate to, that gets most attention. True, also, that engaging the emotions is generally and especially for our age group that has experienced more of life – and seen the later consequences. Specialist subjects or complex subjects get less response, but there’s nothing wrong with that if you’re just looking for a few to share an interest. Alas, novelty of approach and looking for new angles on old subjects will always be a feature of getting attention! I’ve also found that you have to give the reader something to do, so asking questions, being a little controversial, helps to fire readers up to reply. Some blogs blanket-cover the subject and leave the reader with little to add. Some people seem to have an engaging, chatty instinct.
My career was in it/Communications and there are all sorts of technical considerations but this probably isn’t the place.
Blogging is interesting in itself, what about a Bloggers Group to discuss it and practice, it would be ace for learners like me?
soundflyer, you seem to have a great comprehension on blog writing and if you would like to start a group, it would be easy to do but I am not sure how many people would be interested.
Thanks Rose, I’ll ask around – a bit of market research. As you said, there is a lot of external info and discussion already, so maybe re-inventing the wheel to do it again here.
Hello Rose
I am not a fan of sport myself but mostly interessed in culture animals the future science .but that means not i can read other things .But living with 24/24 pain and stay positif is harder than we can imagine but so be it we can t change it anymore that s why i am tattooed all over My body to search peace
I enjoy reading blogs and comments both old and new .
Not a fan of sport but am always interested in others points of view.
Writing a blog is a different discipline entirely….and agree with Soundflyer that it does need practice and hopefully will become easier with time.
Now, we are all different and look at the world through our own eyes and with our own perpective and that what makes writing and reading blogs so much fun, touching, and enlightening.
Blog away folks …I am reading.!
watergypsy, I so agree with you that every person’s thought and life is very important and I also read and write blogs, to give and get. I perfectly understand that all people do not want to write and all do not want to expose their inner self, though.
“I like it when the blog makes you think of something else. It’s like brainstorming, you never know what you’re going to think, remember or feel (state of mind). I notice that I sometimes comment a blog with another blog.”
This was my reply to a blogger in September 2011. I had only been on Seniorchatters for 3 months by then. It was a difficult period of my life and I am grateful for the bloggers that gave me something new to think about.
I could say that blogs are a distraction. I want to learn something new to me.
Davidr, I like the blogs for that reason, and sometimes I also write a blog on a similar subject as you do.
Hello Rose, hello Star,
you really exspect to much of me. Means I’m running out of emotions but not of out of feelings.
As you know I had lipsticks, perfume, make up, i.e. in my blogs but now? What could I fascinate my friends with? A good but alos a question for me.
O there we are, I’ve got one. But please be patient with me it will come up within the next few days. At this stage I’m still thinking if I get praised or hammered for it? We shall see. xxxM
Bring it on then Michael……we all await eagerly.
Michael, Just be who you are and what find worth sharing. You are an intelligent and thoughtful person and it will show. If you ruffle feathers, you will learn something where it is safe to do so.” ruffle feather” means to anger or irritate.
Waiting………….
I read a lot of blogs but do not comment on many at all. I also have wanted to write a blog or two since being here on SC but have not done so. I have found there are too many restrictions on what to say and what not to say, how to say and how not to say things so as not to offend others. I choose not to leave comments often or attempt blogging here because I do not feel I can express myself completely.
Suzan, you express yourself very well, and the rules are mostly common sense and there are no penalties, unless you did something horrendous and you wouldn’t.
