AUTUMN WINDS

AUTUMN SONG
By Paul Verlaine as translated by JoJo

The long sobs
Of the Autumn violins
Wound my heart
With a languorous monotony.

Always suffocating
They pale when the hours comes
That I recall
The days of yore,
And I weep.

I go back
On a sorrowful wind
That carries me
Here and there,
Like a dead leaf.

As a matter of interest, the above poem was broadcast by BBC Radio as a signal to the French Resistance that D Day was imminent. It truly echoed a chord in my heart, and I also hope it does in yours.
