Another time….Another place…..

If you had to be trapped in a tv show for a month, which one would it be…………for me it would be ” The Darling Buds Of May “…….,the setting…… a big rambling farmhouse out in the middle of the country, surrounded by green and gold fields, Chickens and Rabbits running around the yard, large country kitchen with an Aga cooker, always something on it simmering away, bread in the oven, the table covered in a gingham cloth laden with home made bread, butter and cheese, scones, jam, cream, homemade Lemonade and Blackberry wine…..kids bustling in and out, everyone happy, smiling, kind and courteous….. women dressed in pretty floral full skirted dresses, always neat and tidy, just a touch of lipstick and blusher, but always long flowing hair tied up in ribbons……..and the endless days of blue sky’s, cotton wool clouds and sun……….ahhhhh one can dream…….

    1. Another proposal would have been to play a complete new interpretation of Romeo and Julia! Shakespear would love it, the house would be crowded every time its been played. So I could afford one more bottle of wine ( the years best of course )! xxxM

      1. Well all I can say about that Michael is it would have to be a lot less boring than Shakespears other stuff……….just never did anything for me his writings……and when I played Bottom in A Midsummers Night Dream, well that was the final nail for me..lol

  1. Star – for a month I’d go for Doc Martin. I love Cornwall and have been to the village of Port Isaac where it is filmed a few times. A whole 30 days of summer sunshine, rugged cliffs, and the blue sparkling Atlantic would suit my mood just fine.
On a completely different tack, as someone who believes he has been born 1,000 too soon in history and with a deep fascination for the universe and what might be out there, you could find me a berth on the Starship Enterprise and I’d be a happy man.

  2. Hi owl, what a brilliant choice of country, although in the series all the locals seem a bit dim..lol….but I have also visited there and just recently been pricing some local holiday cottages up……and I don’t know if you remember the bunch of male singers from Port Isaac… The Fisherman’s Friends……well I have read that during the summer months on a Friday evening they sing down at the Harbour, how wonderful would that be to be there then……..and when I watch the series I always say I want the cottage which Louise lives in with the small balcony looking down onto the Harbour…..a dream come true……. I would tolerate the locals and even have Doc Martin as my GP…..and that’s saying something…..lol………space type programmes do nothing for me, I know as much about them as I do techy stuff…….just not my bag..lol……

  3. Hi Judeee, well I have to admit I had heard of the book but knew nothing about it, so i asked my friend Mr Google……..have to say the series sounds intriguing, seems to have it all, time travel, romance, compassion and Scotsmen…..quite an adventure you would be on if you could be trapped in that series for a month……I .will endeavour to watch it should I get the chance…….

  4. Hi starlette. My place to be for a month would be on the set of “Are you being served?”. I got hooked the first time I saw the show, back in the 80s.
If I had to replace a character, it would mostly be Mr. Rumbold; a little distracted, out of phase with reality a bit.

  5. Haaaa yes David…….. I remember purple haired Mrs Slocombe and her Pussy……lots of innuendos in that show……….Mr Rumbold, did he actually ever do anything…lol…yes he was a bit bumbling to say the least, but all good characters and all played their part……

  6. Going back some on that one Rose……. I remember Michael Landon in Bonanza, and he was in Little House On The Prairie too……lush…lol……..well there are certainly no similarities between these two shows Rose…….are you sure you would be happy cooped away in the kitchen slaving away over the stove cooking for those three hunks in Bonanza …….or wouldn’t you rather be out on the pull with the girls in the city, finding some guy to wine and dine you ………have to think of the manicured nails you know..lol

  7. POLDARK please,Star! A great period of history,intricate politics,fabulous scenery,crashing seas,smugglers, beautiful fashions,……..

and I do lust just a little bit for Ross…….

  8. Haaaaa Maise lust a little bit…errrr…..lol……..well yes it would certainly be an interesting series to spend some time in……….something to satisfy all your wants and needs…..

    1. And what a eye opener geeljay……….they certainly look after their senior citizens………such a colourful country and wonderful people………says it all really when all the stars wish to return, and indeed move and spend their remaining days there…..
