Wanted! New Writers

There are close to 4000 members on this site. Many may not speak or read English. That still leaves a very large group of blog readers out there. Why is it that a very few reply to the blogs? It is always the same group. Regardless of the nature of the blog. It is also the same group that writes the blogs themselves. I, for one, would love to see some new names attatched to blogs and comments. Perhaps giving us a few new perspectives.

If you have never written before, let us hear from you now. Your voice is important too.

Love, Jackie xxx

      1. Ann I would have withdrawal symptoms my friend, your blogs are the first I read every day. I have loved every one of them. Thank you so much for all the time you spend on blogging, and please please stay, it is the long time bloggers like you who are the people who hold it all together xxxxxxxx

      2. I agree with skip and gran, you must stay tania, your blogs are so interesting,i always read them, you work so hard for us all tania,i dont say it often enough but thank you, tania, xxxxx

      3. Hey Ann, pleas don’t leave me!!! Your blogs give me inspiration as well as a lot of laughs… when I have a bit more time , I’ll use your willingness to share as an inspiration… xxxx

  1. Oh jackie what is up love, we were not making fun of your blog, we were hoping to make you and ann laugh. I love everyone’s blogs and would welcome new bloggers, just as I treasure our long term bloggers, I am at a loss how this would scare new people away.

    1. Neither Ann or I were needing a laugh. I am not going anywhere and Ann probably just wants to take a well deserved rest. When serious blogs are treated in a joking manner some people may wonder how their blogs or comments will be treated. I’m not upset with anyone. Just asking for moratorium on the jokes. Love, Jackie

  2. Jackie I know what you are saying? You are wondering where everyone is, if there is that many chatters? I think a lot of them just go into the chat room, or the groups. The groups really are like blogs. I remember Faye saying there wasn’t much a difference between them. So maybe this is why you don’t see as many “blogs” or responses??
Don’t stop blogging Jackie. 🙂 xo

  3. I’ve got to interject here. You can’t write a blog and expect everyone to fall in line with your rules for responses. The point of a blog is to solicit input and that input is going to vary greatly from response to response.

If one wishes to blog and only receive certain types of responses, then one must iterate that at the beginning of the post. My hunch is that if you blog with such a caveat, you’re not likely to get much interest. Posters want to be free to post whatever they wish, and if the response is a well-intentioned bit of kind humor, then what really is the harm in that?

If you blog, you have to expect to get responses that you may not like sometimes. Goes with the territory as a writer.

  4. Thanks Chalk, for saying what needed to be said. Geez where are the
rules that say you can’t make a joke or reply to a comment on a blog?
    Appreciate your common sense response.

  5. My opinion is that we are gifted differently, some are good bloggers, others love reading the blogs without making a comment while others read the blogs and leave comments. I encourage SC to do what they do best.
    Thank you

  6. Never more then any other time on this site has a blog been hijacked so completely. And became once again a playground for the mutual admiration society . When this occurs it leaves the Author with feelings of rejection, isolation, and low self esteem.. The very reasons we have monitors and Admins is to protect the members from emotional assault by other members.. I write this fully expecting ridicule to rain down on me. As you all know I am no stranger to personal attacks from certain members, but I’m a New Yorker thoroughly trained in the art of sarcasm so I fear you not. Jackie you did great.

  7. Oh good lord leaf, relax.. no one has hijacked this blog, people are just responding. that is how conversation works. There’s no need for any of this overreaction. People have every
right to say what they want on a blog. They can comment however they deem appropriate.
They were just having a little fun and didn’t ridicule Jackie or anyone else, yourself included.
If you don’t like it, don’t blog or don’t read the responses. Can we just focus on something
a little more important in life.. I mean by the time we’ve gotten to this stage, shouldn’t we be
able to see (like UStom said) that life’s too short for this nonsense?

      1. I sure hope that’s not true, grandmaj. That would be a loss and would be punishing the rest of us who want to hear from you. You’re doing what you should be – commenting, joking, expressing your opinion, encouraging…having a good time. Keep going. xo

  8. Jackie, you’ve certainly got a great deal of response to your blog.
There maybe 4000 members, but I would bet than less than half that amount actually visit this site anymore.
It maybe a good idea if Rob could do some house cleaning and remove the weeds.
He sent out over 8000 emails for the reunion, and maybe those that dont respond could be removed, allowing the usernames to be used by newcomers.
As for blogging, everyone is welcome to blog, but I do feel that maybe many are hesitant to write anything in fear it might not be ‘right’ in the minds of the blog police.
Thanks for voicing your opinions Jackie, thats what bogging is all about 🙂

      1. Meowsie, I didnt mean anyone who is current. but there must be hundreds that have not logged in for years. that would include the scammers, and as much as I dont want to say it, this may include those that are no longer with us in the world.

        1. This is a hard one Polly …in the olden days many of us have bought lifetime memberships …and unless administration is certain that a member has passed . I think the membership still stands .

  9. I seldom write an original blog; earlier in my SC life I wrote several group pieces. All received varying responses. I got in a brouhaha over one blog I wrote; if I recall one person “unfriended” me. Original blogs are hard to write and do well. Reflective thought is hard (for me anyway) to do and sustain. I do know a few SCers who seem to do it readily and well. In my opinion we should not expect a lot of members to author blogs just as we don’t expect more than a small percentage of the population to be authors. Writing a blog takes a willingness to put oneself out there knowing that inevitably there may be responses both unexpected and not in agreement or supportive. Life is tough. I get a lot personally out of SC and it has various facets from which one my pick and choose that which suits one best.

    1. The safe option is to copy and paste …. but it becomes repetitive. I like blogs that are open for conversation, views and opinions, and chatters should be encouraged to write their own blogs, not shunned, which i have seen happen.

  10. Sounds to me like you could all do with a stiff drink, hahahahaa, sorry i been drinking, come join the party in the next room, take of ya shoes and let ya hair down!!!!!!,and watch kat pole dance!!!!,Wahooooooo!!!!,xxxxxx

  11. In conclusion….the topic was “desire to get new writers”. Good idea. Would it be possible to encourage our friends to write a blog? Could we agree on some basic respect for bloggers…or whatever might cause people to feel good about blogging? I agree with Flower… let’s have a drink or tea or whatever and focus on what positive things can be done to get new writers. Negative tears down..positive builds up. I will write a blog. Who wants to join me? It is nice having Jackie, Tania and others who contribute so much, but it will be nice for them to get a chance to read others as well. May you all be blessed and friendships be repaired.

  12. Yes i love to read all the blogs, and its fine if you dont like mine,we are not all the same so of course we wont all like the same thing.I just ask that we use constructive critism,in a nice way.

  13. While I am a newbie to SC, I have written about 10 of them so far in about a fortnight.
We need people to come out and speak without fear, inhibitions or reservations ( within the framework of the guidelines of the Site ) on all the world- wide topics .
I also propose that some monthly token prizes (or only appreciation certificates) be also announced as was done by Madam jojo.
We may have 2 committees- 1 for news- reporting or general topics and 2nd for fiction.
We may also include topics on games like cricket, football. hockey etc.
I would like all the brothers and sisters of the SC to give their valuable opinion on this proposal
With regards and best wishes !
