No Harm

If you can, help others; if you cannot do that, at least do not harm t
hem. Dalai Lama

Harm can be done in so many ways. The obvious, of course, is physical. There are varying degrees of harm. From death yogurt feelings, and everything in between. We have all been guilty of harming someone at sometime. Be it out of anger, fear, or just plain carelessness. Words are quite often the instrument used. However, the lack of words can be just as damaging. When we snub another, ignore a plea, or “accidentally” turn a deaf ear towards them.

Each of us has been harmed in our lifetimes. Often we have cried ourselves to sleep, wondering why. Was it something we said or did? Or was it something we failed to say or do? The answer doesn’t really matter. The pain is still there. Yet we forget our pain and inflict it on others far too easily.

In our years of experience we should be wise enough to be more gentle with others. That isn’t always the reality though. If we would but think twice before we speak, or recall how we felt when snubbed, or realize how easy it is to commit harm, this world might be a better place for our having passed through it.

Bless you all.
Love, Jackie xx
