False Friends

Beware of False
Friends

When I was still a boy and I couldn’t play on my bike,

One day a bigger boy said,

“Let me push you as you ride on your bike.”

Excited was I as I mounted the seat,

He pushed me fast it was a treat,

But coming to a puddle, he tipped me over,

And he laughed at me, I was soaking all over.

So now I am grown up and when a man comes to me.

When before he would have passed me by,

Then tells me what he will do for me, which of course I know is a lie,

I remember my bike ride,

So I shake my head and say

“Many thanks, but not today.”
