JUBILEE CELEBRATION CONCERT

Wow!! What a concert. I watched it on TV last night and I was dancing in my recliner (my painful knee stopped me from getting up and dancing) – gosh doesn’t that sound old, but you are only as old as you feel and I was back in the days when I saw Cliff Richards and Tom Jones in concert here in Australia many years ago. Cliff Richards just doesn’t seem to age, and his energy, I wish I had half of it…..hahaha……and Tom Jones – he sounds just as good now. All of the artists were so great, and I loved the comedians, and Prince Charles’s dig at them in his speech. Kylie Minogue – what an entertainer she is. I was amazed at the lighting displays on Buckingham Palace and the pyrotechnics, the stage, the whole production – it was just magic, and credit to all those involved. It was also wonderful to see pictures of the Queen throughout her life.

When Prince Charles called the Queen “mummy” I was waiting for her to smile, but she didn’t straight away, and the cameras were on her for a while and I could see (in my opinion) that she had a lump in her throat and was holding back her emotions – what a very disciplined woman she is, but it would have been so lovely for her to let go – just a little – so that the world could see how impressed she was by this wonderful tribute to her. However the next day, on the balcony there was lots of smiling from her and she looked so pleased as she looked over the crowds gathered in front of Buckingham Palace waving their flags. It must have been so gratifying for her to see the thousands of people who came out to celebrate with her. Celebrations like these give people the chance to enjoy themselves and forget their cares and worries for a little while.

Congratulations Queen Elizabeth II for 60 years of service!!!

Wouldn’t Diana have loved this concert!!!

  2. It was absolutely fabulas forever. I enjoyed all the coverage and i agree with all you said in your post. I would have given anything to have been in London ( i am a Londoner by birth) for those 3 fabulas days, but alas, it wasnt possible. I think the BBC and other channells excelled themself and i so enjoyed seeing the street parties from all over the country. God save the Queen!!…I had to end with those words..seems fitting somehow!!!!. :). x
