Capitalization is the difference

From a teacher — short and to the point.

In the world of hi-tech gadgetry, I’ve noticed that more and more
people who send text messages and emails have long forgotten the
art of capital (upper case) letters.

For those of you who fall into this category, please take note of the
following statement: “Capitalization is the difference between helping
your Uncle Jack off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse.”

Is everybody clear on that?

  1. Punctuation is also very important! Try reading the book Eats, Shoots and Leaves for more on that! For example, a Panda walks in the bar. He eats, shoots and leaves. Some food is gone and someone is dead now. But, if the Panda eats shoots and leaves, he is simply a plant devouring mammal!

  2. guilty as charged!!!!! generally speaking i dont give a damn. i love writing, reading, and words themselves. i am content with relaxed punctuation for emails and texts. just an opinion…

  3. I agree 100%..my problem is that I’m not the greatest typist on the planet and sometimes(more than I would like) I miss the wagon. I just hope that you all find it in your hearts to forgive me…lol

  4. Oh, that is brilliant. I love your example. I just cringe at the bad use of apostrophes these days, some people just don’t seem to know the difference between the plural – ie secretaries and the thing belonging to a secretary – secretary’s desk.

  5. just so ewe no i half bin guilty of all the sins you point out. I use their when I mean there, its and it’s give me fits; not so bad with through and threw, but God help me with to and too (or is it two?).

  6. Well, old bull, I’m so busy trying to use my capitals in the right places, that I sometimes look up from typing and find I have started with a lower case letter and the rest of the sentence is in capitals. I THEN HAVE TO BACKTRACK. sEE WHAT i MEAN………. mUCH the same with reading and music . I like nto mostly keep my eyes on the sheet of music,. Drop my eyes to the piano keys, an I lose my place in the music.Between the eyes and the hand, comes a conbobulation within the brain. I agree with you though. Apart from all that ,I have noticed the spelling of a few adults, and quite a few teens, is very sad… their and there, you and youse.OMG., EVEN YEWS, I saw last night. This is on Facebook. I can honestly say, I have not noticed bad grammar, or bad spelling on S.C. I think it’s important to keep up standards in everything, without being a pain in the neck about it. Cag.xxx
