THE VISIT

This is an old one but a good one.

One day the Father of a wealthy family took his son on a tri to the country with the express journey on showing him how poor people live.

They spent a couple of days and nights on a farm of what would be considered a very poor family.

On the return home from the trip the father asked, ‘how was the trip?’ ‘ It was great dad.’ Did you see how the poor people lived?’ the father asked.

‘Oh! Yes’ said the son.’ ‘ So tell me what you learned about the trip,’ the father asked.

The son answered, ‘ I saw we have one dog they have four, we have a pool that reaches the middle of our garden, and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our gardens and they have stars at night. Our patio reaches the front yard and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond sight.

We have servants that serve us but they serve others. We buy our food but they grow theirs. We have a wall around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.’

The boy’s father was speechless. Then his son added, ‘ Thank you Dad for showing me how poor we are.’
