Pets I have known

A few years ago, my wife and I got a pair of pekingese puppies. Both girls. They were sure a handful but they were real cute, too. Pepper could walk upright on her hind legs as a trick. My wife trained her to do that.Goldie was the sweet one. She didn’t do tricks but I liked her best because she didn’t yap like Pepper. I still have a framed picture of them up in the kitchen, over the place where we used to feed them. They are both still alive, but they live with my ex-wife now.
I started feeding a stray cat last year, and he’s just about adopted me now. He was always so dirty, it was hard to tell for sure what his coloring was.
But now he sleeps on a cushion in a box I put out back for him, and he’s started to keep himself more clean. I can see now that he’s pretty much all white except for some black patches on his back. Part of one ear is gone, other than that he looks healthy and sleek.
He’s good company, doesn’t fuss too much. Lately he’s even been coming inside sometimes to eat.
I still haven’t named him, I mainly just call him Cat or Here Fella.

  1. Cats don’t need names. The sound of your voice will tell them if you are friendly or not. I hope he/she becomes your mate.
It must be awful for you losing your dogs. xxx

  2. Hi Lou,by the sounds of it an appropriate name for the feline might be “Lucky”.You could even create an egg dish called Cat Eggs and feed him your creative culinary experiments, hahahahahha, all the best.

  3. I think he has ate enough of egg surprises to last his life time. My cat takes a blind bit of notice about name, just when it meows for the the tray and food, after that its back to sleep, useless thing. At least a dog helps to get your newspaper and a can of beer from the fridge, turn the remote on when footy starts, that is a proper working dog, see louD1 it can be responsible for a dog to care for the owner. hahaha.

  4. A cat has adopted me, she comes and stares at me through the kitchen window until I take her something to eat and drink. She’s not a stray…..she’s sleek and chubby, so obviously she’s on the trail of ‘seconds’.

  5. Hi maize, cats very often have second homes, I had been feeding one for over a year, he was white and had one blue eye and one Green and was all white, I named him Bowie, I know he had another home because occasionally he had a collar on, but he was street cat, I haven’t seen him now for a month, so alas I think he may have gone to live in the rainbow over the sky, I miss him though, he was the most beautiful natured cat…xx

  6. This one keeps disappearing, star…sometimes for weeks. Then she’s back at the window, peering in and wondering what’s for supper.A friend thinks she’s called Chloe and lives about 10 minutes walk away.

  7. I found a stray kitten that had a broken leg. The vet fixed his leg and I called him “Lucky”. He was about 3 yrs old when he went out one day and didn’t come home. Finally after he had been gone for 2 months I accepted the fact he must have died. Soon after that I opened my door one evening and who strolled in….Lucky! He went straight to where I used to feed him and looked at me as if to say “So where is my food?” Don’t give up yet Starlette…your friend may come back after all. Sure hope so.
