Our Chat Rooms are a big aspect of our site and are great if you love chatting with multiple people at the same time, but what if you’re just looking for one-to-one chat instead? Well, we have that covered too.
On every page in the bottom right-hand corner you will notice an orange chat bubble labelled Chat Connections with a number in it. The number denotes those members who are available for private chatting.
Getting Started with Private Chatting
Expand the Userlist
Click on My Connections to expand the userlist
My Previous Chats
The window is split into two panes. The top pane will display any previous private chats you have had in a continuous thread, so you can easily go back to a historical conversation and continue where you left off, even if your connection isn’t currently logged into Senior Chatters.
My Active Connections
The bottom pane will display your Active Connections who you can chat to right now.
Notice that an active connection status is highlighted in green.
Update Your Private Chat Status
Click on the cog icon to expand your private chat settings and set your status according to the options available to you.
Private Chatting
Click on an Active User name to open the private chat window between you and the user you wish to initiate a conversation with.
Simply type your message in the message input box and click on the Send button.
You can also embed emoticons, pictures and attachments in a private chat message, these are highlighted by a smiley face, camera and paperclip icon at the foot of the window.
Take Home Tips
1) Members available will appear in the Chat Connections chat bubble (bottom right of screen)
3) Previous conversations can be accessed under My Chats
4) Active Users appear at the bottom of the My Connections window
5) If you don't see the chat number in the bubble close the app by clicking on the x
