Beneath the Blanket of the Sky

Another day sighs softly
As the sun trips off to bed
Pulling gently on the blanket of the sky

So many things I’ve dreamed of
Through the hours just behind
My heart beats with compassion as I cry

The hours seem so distant
Since I held my dream so tight
But though it’s gone I still can feel the love

It matters not that you are gone
Or that I played the fool
It still is here and fits me like a glove

No words could e’er explain it
Nor could time erase the hope
That grew within my heart in days gone by

I shall not curse the darkness
That encompasses my world
I’ll dream beneath the blanket of the sky.
