A thought about breakfast
Years ago when I was just starting out on my own, breakfast became my favorite meal of the day. It was the only meal I could make for myself properly. I had taken my mum’s wonderful home cooking for granted up until I moved out of the family home at 18 and had to fend for myself. I taught myself through trial and error how to scramble an egg. I couldn’t afford much more than that at the time. I would have loved a bit of bacon with it, but I probably would have burned it. When I was in my twenties, I married a lovely girl who cooked almost as well as my mother. I was quite spoiled by her. Now that we are divorced I am once more doing my own cooking. I once again live on scrambled egg mostly, but at least now I can afford to eat out once in awhile.

What a pity you didn’t learn to cook and share the kitchen when you had the chance.taught my son to cook as my husband was not a cook and yes he was spoilt by his mum and me .Hope you get a few good meals sometimes .google is good help lol
Oh dear Lou, you must get fed up of scrambled eggs, maybe an omelette or two could be put on your menu, still involves beating eggs so you should be pretty proficient at that, you can then maybe graduate to actually frying or boiling an egg, who knows, the possibilities are boundless………in time you maybe would feel confident enough to fry or grill a rasher of bacon or two, but these things cannot be rushed so study your cookery book well before you attempt the next level, and we wont go into the process of cooking mushrooms and sausages just yet, one baby step at a time…….ya know what Lou i think it would be easier installing another female into your kitchen lol……..no insult meant by this comment……….just my sense of fun….xx
Sound like meal ticket, I left home to at 17 yrs but I was able to cook basic meals back then, can’t always depend on others, how did your ill wife make up, or got up out of her sickbed and pander to the husband needs when he was feeling for a meal, nice. been with my self for 12 or 13 yrs and only helps them are those that you. must be hard living on constantly eggs, sorry not feeling for one bit.
I am so pleased that my son can cook. He even does Sunday Lunch and invites us to go there for it. I hope that you can get hold of some basic recipes and go from there, rather than eggs all the time.
How about learning to use the tin opener! Its useful for the occasional bake beans or tin of spam ha ha ha. I am good at it lol.
Hi Lou , just in case you haven’t noticed ,things have changed since you’ve left home at 18 !
These days cooking couldn’t be any easier ,really !
Meat, chicken and fish comes already trimmed and cut into portions ..
Veggies washed ,cut and mixed ,ready to steam or microwave .
Salads washed ,cut ,mixed and with it’s own sachet of dressing , you only need to cut the packets open mix into a bowl and eat !
You won’t even need to install another female in the kitchen as suggested by star …unless of course you would want her to perform other duties as well !
🙂
Not forgetting the ready meals now that you can just pop into the oven or microwave.
I’m glad i’m not standing behind you if you eat so many eggs. All those eggy farts.
Cheese on toast is one of my faves. I’ve even taught my hubby to do it. If he can learn anyone can. xxx
