Perfume, Power, Purpose, and Worth
One Senior Chatter blogger was talking about giving flowers and what flowers say and I thought of the color, beauty and fragrance and power of perfume. I started wondering and thinking what power does flower power have to attractive the opposite sex.
The flower is fragrant to attract the insects in completing the reproductive cycle of the plant. Flowers are all about reproduction. I also remembered walking home in San Diego CA, USA and smelling the most heavenly smell of flowers in the evening and I never saw any flowers at all. The flowers were jasmine and they don’t bloom except at night. Their fragrance is used in perfume around the world. There are many flowers and plants parts used in perfume, but none more wonderful than jasmine.
Is it possible that perfume has power that some of us are missing. Just in case, I resolved to get some promptly. Roses are widely used, but in my humble opinion roses are tame compared to this heady scent of jasmine. Lilac, is also fragrant, but I have never smelled another flower with the intoxicating effect of jasmine. Well, what is your favorite?
So, even if it is gathering flower petals and putting them in pockets, or paying outlandish sums, we all may benefit from some special fragrance. Men, I don’t want to leave you out. I just asked my grandson who is smitten with a special lady what a man does to look beautiful and he said just “good hygiene? So, he is right there , but he also has some special scents when he leaves for work. So, men and women how do you feel about special scents and its power to entice?
I also remember that men are more attractive with some subtle smell of “old spice” or English leather, but in all cases clean is good, but these special scents go beyond clean, and seems to make us want to be closer. Men, Listen up.
I will take perfume much more seriously, I do believe. I have already resolved to use what Perfume I have while I look for that special jasmine scent that I have never forgotten in over 30 years. I feel like I may have overlooked something here, how about you?

Great blog, rose……….As someone who was a florist for almost 25 years, I can assure you that flowers do carry a lot of weight. Every customer had their own favorite and sometimes the reason for giving it. I agree with you about jasmine. It simply is a truly exotic fragrance. As for that man thingy, I’ve never found a fragrance I like more than Obsession For Men. A lady stopped me in the grocery store one time and said, “I don’t know what cologne you are wearing, but I know I’m going to buy it for my husband”. Fragrances are nice, but absolutely nothing beats good hygiene. Fragrance only enhances the effect.
Lavender
Orange blossom
I love to smell nice. I have been wearing Obsession for Men as a perfume for the best part of 20 years. If I put it on the sides or front of my neck, I get a rash so I always just spray a little on the back of my neck. It can boost your confidence to know you smell good.
Yes Bloom Flowers are the most beautiful gift a lady can recieve, in my shop one of our Bank Tellers used to come and get 1 red rose and some greenery, each friday night on his way home from work in cellophane and ribbon ,, lucky lady I had to always have it ready by 5 .pm. for over three years , when i soldmy shop , I often wonder if 40 yrs later he still does the same ….
thank you jcb
good blog roseinbloom. jasmine is actually my wifes favorite and i agree that us men should make a effort to smell nice for the ones we care about in our life.
My favourite flower is the Yellow Rose, not really noted for its perfume, the symbolism is for friendship, joy, health and optimism yellow flowers to me mean warmth and sunshine, pretty little sweetpeas and Fressias have lovely perfumes, but the smell of the Lilac trees in the early evening are something else……….too much perfume used by some women I think can have a nauseating effect ……..more men should use the after shave……..or maybe I am not mixing with the right ones…lol…..I know there is one very expensive aftershave around, but it does nothing for me, smells just like Vick vapour rub……..xx
Yellow Rose for love, peace and friendship. I love them with all my heart. 😀 x
I have always loved yellow roses since highschool and one was given to me in a high school honors recognition. I have grown all shades of yellow roses, but haven’t in the last few years since thet are hybrid and cause a lot of work.
I love Inis from Ireland and wear the lotion they make.
Jasmine, my favorite.
I will make individual comments when I have more time but I had a checkup at the doctor today and some errand, I put the perfume on. Oh maybe that is why people were so nice. LOL. Well, they were nice and that could have been the reason.
Lilly of the Valley. For some unknown reason I have always been attracted to this small delicate flower. It has a purity about it, and hangs like a bell or teardrop. My great aunts garden was full of Lilly of the Valley, and I picked quite a big bunch and took them to the florist to put in my wedding bouquet.
polly, much of what we prefer is based on our memories of it that are attached. Lillies of the valley do have a nice smell.
