JK Rowling

Is anyone else a Harry Potter fan? How about Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them? My children were about 10 and 12 when the first harry came out. I was working at the library, and wondered at all these requests for this book, and ordered it myself... and fell in love.

What I loved is these books gave adults permission to be kids again, and kids encouragement to read. YA books are so darn depressing and "realistic". What I don't like is the trend for adults to be minimalized or non-existent, and endowing a child with the strength, wisdom and adultness to solve all problems, and be the hero.

Not realistic, at all. Still Fantastic Beasts is a joy, mixing a period piece with magic/ British with American characters. The humor gets point, too. I can hardly wait for the 2nd Fantastic in 2018!

Hi Mrs k, I so live in the dark ages and have to confess I have never read any of the books or seen any of the films…….but if you can escape into the fantasy world of the books then good of you….read and enjoy….

My girls and I were devout midnight revelers, standing in the cold for hours, waiting for 12 midnight, when the movie premiere began, lol. We were actually interviewed by the local press, but, alas, it was deleted in favor of younger fans. lol
This was our “thing” for every HP movie.

I did not read them but know many adults that did and enjoyed them immensely. I just heard JK’s book is coming out this fall so only a few more months to go. I enjoyed the first 2 movies.
