Ideas for a West Midlands Staycation

We have all found out that many of the best holidays we can enjoy are those just along the road. If you want a trip away without the stress of trying to organise flights, visas and standing in winding airport queues. With so much on our doorsteps, we want to share the very best that’s on offer right here in blighty! Read on to discover why the Midlands is an interesting and relatively undiscovered place to take a staycation this summer. And let me know your own thoughts in the comments! Happy to know what the community thinks of the West Midlands as a place to visit!

Rolling Countryside to Enjoy

While other parts of the UK might be considered more iconic in their countryside scenery, there is a lot to be said for what can be found in the West Midlands. The home of Sutton Coldfield, Coventry and Wolverhampton is full of beautiful English vistas worth seeing. There are a number of designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty like the Shropshire Hills and the Malvern Hills to the South that should put the region on your radar.

The Perfect Hotel Stay

If you decide to take some time away for a trip to the West Midlands, getting the right hotel as a base is key to how much you enjoy your stay. Being in pleasant surroundings does wonders for your mood and helps you de-stress. The Belfry Hotel in Sutton Coldfield should be at the top of your list for a relaxing stay in the West Midlands. The resort is famous for its Brabazon golf course, hosting the Ryder Cup on four separate occasions. There is much more here than the golf course, including a bar and grill, on-site spa and woodland walks to explore.

The City Break Option

While a luxury hotel in the countryside might sound appealing, that type of staycation isn’t for everyone. Some people would prefer to enjoy the hustle and bustle of Birmingham. While the industrial past of Birmingham might make it seem an unlikely contender as the ideal place to take a city break, there is plenty of culture on display here that’s well worth seeking out. You can enjoy a variety of free museums across the city, and those who like a bit of retail therapy won’t be disappointed by the shopping on offer.

Enjoying West Midlands Restaurants

One of the most enjoyable things we can do as part of a staycation is to eat some great food. There is no end to fantastic eateries and restaurants across the West Midlands. You need to do some research to find where the real gems lie. British cuisine is well celebrated here, along with other staples of the Black Country. Thanks to a large immigrant population, Indian menus are well-celebrated in this part of the country too! There is no end to what you can enjoy, regardless of your taste preferences.

We hope this article has gone a good way to show you how you can enjoy a staycation in the West Midlands this Spring. We are lucky to have places like this right on our doorsteps. Pick the activities you like the best and relax on a memorable trip!
