I Am a Believer Are You?

Some people say that they are very much in tune with the spirit world or other side as some call it.  Are there really Ghosts amongst us?  People who died a long time ago but for what ever reasons have not crossed over ? There are Angels amongst us too and there are bad spirits. So come along everyone tells us your experiences of things that have happened to you that cannot be explained.

I have a S.C. friend who owns a house built in 1766 over there in the UK and they has seen 2 ghosts that inhabit the house. I have never seen a ghost and hope I never do. 🙂

MY HUSBAND AND I LIVED IN AN OLD HOUSE FOR 5 YEARS WHEN WE FIRST MARRIED, WHEN WE MOVED OUT WE RENTED IT OUT TO AN AQUAINTANCE OF MY HUSBAND. THE FIRST WEEK WHEN HE CALLED FOR THE RENT THEY WERE NOT IN SO HE WENT ROUND TO HIS FRIEND S MOTHER S. THE GUY SAID “YOU MUST BE JOKING, THE FIRST NIGHT WE SLEPT IN IT THE BED SPUN ROUND AND WAS SLAMMED AGAINST A WALL” THEY DID NOT GO BACK. MY HUSBAND TOLD ME THAT HE OFTEN SAW A FIGURE AT THE FOOT OF THE BED IN OUR ROOM BUT DID NOT TELL ME AS HE KNEW I WOULD BE TERRIFIED. HE WAS RIGHT . IGNORANCE IS BLISS.

Well No, I cannot say I am a believer, but do have story as told by My Grandparents -Who passed 60 years or so:
The story goes that both Grandparents were sitting when eating lunch when they both saw an image of Grans Sister through the window – it was but a flash, but they both knew what they had seen,

They later learned that Grans sister who was living in America had died at the same time of the apparition!

    Makes you think! Drummer

I personally have not witnessed a sighting of a ghost but had an aunt who did see my maternal grandmother’s ghost as my aunt ascended up the stairs of her home.

Because of my own personnel experiences I know there is something else elsewhere…..too many things to list…….I have never had a sighting and don’t want to….premonitions, visions but not of ghosts, voices and sounds, change of temperature and smells…. I do think some people are more susceptible to this kind of thing than others……..those who have never experienced anything are probably sceptics, and why shouldn’t they be, hearing and seeing is believing…….so now some of you think I am nuts….Oh well…….lol

  5. Drummer

    Hi starlette
I am like you I think – can’t claim to be a believer, but at the same time feel aware – or I hope there is! Not sure
    at all!
    Kind regards

    Hi Slimjim,
The mind is all powerful and one can believe or choose not to believe a lot depends on your own frame of mind at time, are you feeling down or are you happy. I myself have had a couple of experiences, one very frightening and the other not so. In my opinion I do feel some have let strange happenings overtake their lives, so live in the present and be happy.

Personally, I have not had this experience – and quite honestly do not wish to do so – but I do believe the old saying ‘there is more in Heaven and Earth than we know’. Both my Grandmother and Mother had experiences that they were firmly convinced had occurred – especially when my Uncle was killed as a result of an industrial accident – when they both heard his footsteps on the stairs in their home! The ancestral roots go way back in time (1796) to Ireland where there was/is a strong belief in ‘the wailing of the Banshee’ which is said to be a ‘warning of a death’ – and my Grandmother firmly believed she had heard this on several occasions in her life. It is not an area that I would wish to delve into – prefer to let those who have gone on to wherever rest in peace……one day I might know the answer when I pass on to the Other Side!! Perhaps I will drop into SC and post a note !! Meantime, each to his/her own opinion.

I have no experience of this, and know one who has, but that’s not to say I’m not a believer, as I think there is more out there to be discovered.

From my own experiences I know there is another dimension which is inhabited by those who have left this world. They are still very aware of what is happening in the physical. The human brain has different levels of consciousness, and there are times when we are more able to tap into this other dimension. When we are asleep, we are in contact with those who have died. It’s the reason we often wake with a lingering memory of having spoken to someone we knew, who is no longer with us.

Can’t call myself a believer. I’ve seen many strange things in my life, some of which I couldn’t explain and , as far as I could establish, neither could science so i suppose they could be put down to fairies and/or magic.

It should be remembered though that most medicine, maths, and, of course, the theory of evolution were not understood. People were burned at the stake for a knowledge of herbs after all.

The property we live on is one of 5 – 9 acre strips of land owned by a family , we bought one strip, well one year ago they found the skeletal remains of a 16 yr old girl that disappeared 27 years ago from a neighbor hood store ,she was working as a clerk- she was found on the 9 acre strip next to ours – it was a death bed confession of one of the family members that lead to her discovery – now my 81 year old dad says he hears footsteps walking with him when he walks the fence line next to the property where the girl was found ? – he’s serious ,wants to sell the property ,erniebuddy danavang tx

I have had a few ‘episodes’ of unexplained encounters .

Firstly the first owner of our house was a Sea Captain – Captain Wilson. We have had many many unexplained episodes in the house ALL water related.
The cellar flooding with water about 2 foot deep then suddenly the water going as quickly as it appeared – there is no grid in the cellar and there was no leak, nor was it raining outside.
The toilet cistern bolted to the wall suddenly cracked and fell from the wall flooding my house and the house next door
The drains suddenly blocking and flooding – no explanation as to why
The roof leaking despite having numerous call outs from roofers PLUS a new roof.
The water in the house suddenly cutting off (except the cold water supply downstairs) – no plumber could find the reason
Water flooding in through the bedroom window – no explanation
A constant dripping sound – no reason ever found

We also had episodes of doors opening themselves and the TV turning over and lights switching on and off plus the sound of someone walking around.

A fried suggested that we had a ghost and we should tell him firmly to go away and he was not welcome.

The last resort was our bedroom carpet being soaked with water but there was no access to water in our room ……

I cursed and said I hate the ******************* captain wilson as I said it a mirror attached to our wardrobe flew off and smashed.

I screamed at him “Leave us alone go away you are not welcome here ” from that day to this there have been no water related incidents in the house.

The only other visitation was my Dad. When I lay in bed I could not see the clock without sitting up and looking over my husband. One night I woke and checked the time as I went to lay back down I seen my dad “sitting” on the chair. As he spoke to me I started scratching and pinching my husband to wake him so he could see my dad too. All my dad said was “I am ok stop worrying about me I am with Jesus (BUT my dad NEVER had faith) I am safe look after the boys take care of your mum” and he left. My husband woke up annoyed that I was hurting him I told him why and he said “you’re just dreaming” I told him I was not dreaming and to prove it I said ” I know the time it’s ten to two” to which my husband replied “shut up you’re scaring me”

Oooh scary ohcarol62 ,maybe the same spirit as the rainboy story on the the web, unexplained water coming out of the walls ,where ever that kid went, even in the jail where they locked him up— lately been searching that Rickey sorrells ,Texas rancher, from stephenville TX UFO story, he sounds credible, OK,PS.- if a spaceship lands on our ,property ,think I’ll jump on and go for a ride, got to know the truth, one of those bucket list things !!!

    1. ohcarol62

Knowledge & Belief. I know that the light goes out when I close the refrigerator door because I have verified that there is a door switch: My daughter believes that because I told her and she trusts my word so she doesn’t bother to verify it.

  16. ohcarol62

Oddly enough APART from the mirror , it was never overly scary I quite got use to having Captain Wilson him around LOL.

As for my dad that was a comfort sadly I have never seen anyone else I have lost.

This is a little off of the usual ghost sighting. The instant that my brother was ‘hit’ by an oncoming pickup… my mother distinctly heard his scream. My brother died on the scene, by the way before the paramedics made it to the scene.

And the other driver got off scott free. That happens a lot when one lives in a very racist, small town. Had it been my brother who had killed the other person…. he’d be sitting in prison. I just had to vent a little; I’m sorry. The pain never goes away.

And I pray that my brother did not suffer during the impact.

I had spooky dreams for quite some time in which I dreamt certain people were going to die, and in a matter of days they did, some of them only acquaintances. It got to the stage that friends said “please don’t dream about me” 🙂 I haven’t had those dreams for some time. A dear friend of mine is nearly at the end of her time and she says “that her deceased husband will have the “car doors open” for her when her time, she believes, will be next month”. She and her husband were born on the same day of the same year, he dying in March a few years ago and she believes she will die in the same month. It will be very interesting to see if this happens, but of course we do not want to lose her. My grandmother was a believer and she told us of several apparition episodes she had had when we were children. She used to scare us with the “Boogy Man”. I do wonder if there is more to us 🙂
