Way back I used to support “Wireless for the Blind”, but now it is “Guide Dogs for the Blind” that I support. Today I received the sad update news that “Fletcher” my sponsored dog has, after nearly a year failed his training and been ‘happy ever after’ homed to a family in the countryside. The good news is that I now have ‘Spirit’, a beautiful white Labrador bitch. Wish her luck!

  1. I’m so sorry for Fletcher. I’m sure he gave it all he knew that he could…but sometimes it never works out. Again, I am sorry that you refer to you Labrador female as bitch…I know that is the common name for a female dog but just kinda raises negative feelings. Good luck with your guide dog…because your wireless for the blind sounds like a noble cause.

  2. Well done GJ for your generous support for this most worthy cause. It is a shame that Fletcher
did not make the grade but has a new and hopefully happy home to enjoy for many years to come.
Labradors are a lovely, patient breed – and Spirit sounds beautiful — I hope she will ‘make the grade’
and bring support and joy to someone who needs her companionship and ‘skills’.

Keep up the support you provide – – I am sure it contributes greatly and is appreciated.

    1. Thank you GG. I receive regular updates on progress plus photo’s. My 2 young grandchildren will be saddened when I tell them and eager to know what Spirit is like.

  3. That’s sad news for Fletcher. Very good that you do that Jim. My mother was blind. She didn’t have a guide dog though. Well she had me, so guess I was the guide dog lol I had a lab x ridge back. Beautiful intelligent dog .
